Raunchy back bumper

My truck came from the factory with chrome bumpers front and rear. It had a painted white bumper when I bought it. The back bumper is bent and rusty and I wouldn’t trust it for more than a small utility trailer.
A new bumper would stand out like a sore thumb. If I found an aged chrome bumper that fir in with the rest of the truck, I’d put it on. In the meantime, I decided to clean up the bumper I have, take off the old paint, prime and paint it. I had some leftover Dupli color silver after painting the truck rally’s.
It looks kinda cheesy, not sure it’s gonna work for me. I’ll reserve judgement until I get it on. Maybe it will grow on me. At least it didn’t cost much, just some leftover paint.

Got the bumper mounted on truck. Doesn’t look terrible, we’ll see how it looks when the wheels are on.

I agree. And the silver looks much better than white. Especially since it was the only white. That's a nice looking aftermarket step bumper. Might be a Luverne, same people who supplied the GM grille guards.

I did the same think with the Bartens bumper on my '72. I made a thread like yours here. That was in '07 I believe.

You’re probably right. lol. I already like it better than the white. I’m interested to see it outside of my garage so I can see it from a distance

Re: Raunchy back bumper

It's very trim and tight to the truck compared to other step bumpers. I like it. Stylish

Re: Raunchy back bumper

Looks super to me! Like the slim look to that bumper.

Finally found a good condition old style bumper for my stepside project. Trying to make something like the one in the photo, but without the chrome.

It will leave the fenders/lights a bit exposed but I like it over just the old roll pan, no bumper at all look.
