Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

And radio back side. It's like a flat rectangle plug?

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

If I remember right it's a 2 part plug that fits in the back of the am radio.
If the truck had am radio that other plug in should be in the dash.
73-87 van and truck audio is for the most all interchangeable.

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

Does it look rectangular like the radio backing but only have 2 wires to it (to single speaker in dash?) if so i have that plug, but am unsure how to combine them to make my needed plug.

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

The radio plug is three seperate plugs if I remember correct. Blue, brown, white/cream. Look like these:

At least on my truck with factory front corner and rear corner speakers. I pulled out that AM/FM analog radio that you have shown and I put in the factory Digital AM/FM/Cass that takes that 4th plug in the picture I posted.

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

I have the 3rd one down. It has just the 1 dash speaker. I'll be replacing it later and splicing because i'ma put 2 in the back corners.

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

I have the same radio connector for the radio I got for mine (out a of a Buick)
Look up Metra 71-1677-1. Its a repair harness connector. What I used. Worked great.

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

Does it come with instructions on how to hook up? Like what wire goes where? I bought one the other day from Walmart, and it came with no instructions. no wonder they were on sale!

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

The wiring diagram is crudely stamped into the top of the radio case.

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

X2 on the stamp. Front center or back corner (by the connector)

That metra is a repair plug. It has female connectors. Walmart normally just has the male connectors (what you would plug into the factory connector)

I *think* this is the correct pin:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...2&postcount=13

That labels orange as memory..essentially 12v constant.

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

I bought a kit to not have to cut wires, soldered to another stock GM radio
just be sure the dimmer wire and the illumination wires are correct
the latter needs power when the lights are on,i did parking being it was brown
watch that last plug there are a couple of types,i had to change the wires to the right plug

Re: Video Killed the Radio Star!

Yes, find a station you want with the dial, pull the preset button/flat OUT, and then push it back in to set it.
