Edelbrock Carb Fuel Pressure Regulator

I've been searching the forums over. I even looked through the 'Engine Bay Pics' thread.
It is recommended we run a fuel pressure regulator to maintain 6 psi maximum to an edelbrock 1400 series carb.

I'm trying to come up with a good looking route and prevent fuel lines crossing back and forth across the engine bay.
Anyone have a nice looking setup route from the mechanical fuel pump to the carb that includes a fuel pressure regulator?

Here is a couple I've found, but not quite what I'm looking for.

lol put the regulator before the engine bay under the truck, or put it on the firewall.

Actually, I never thought about installing it down by the pump. 🤔
I can then run back up the front of the engine like factory.
Nice, I like it.
Thanks.

Re: Edelbrock Carb Fuel Pressure Regulator

Leave it up close to the carb or put it on the firewall.
Down by the pump makes it darn near impossible to set it or install it.
Run it at 5 psi.

Re: Edelbrock Carb Fuel Pressure Regulator

When I ran a SBC, I mounted it on the firewall near the pump and plumbed it with AN hose and fittings all the way up to the carb along with two fuel filters. Worked great up until I sold the engine and transmission.

Re: Edelbrock Carb Fuel Pressure Regulator

Edelbrocks are more sensitive to fuel pressure then Holleys are, but also have much smaller fuel capacity then Holleys.

By my calculus I would want the regulator as close to the engine if you have a healthier motor. If your running a stock warmed up 350 the fire wall would sufficient.

That is so the column of fuel is more readily available for when you hit the throttle.

All Edelbrocks from what I have seen. Have the same bowl size so it doesn't matter if it is a 600cfm or 800cfm. The HP/TQ of the motor set the ideals.

Last thing to consider is running a bypass regulator. They work more efficiently then the dead head model, and keep a column of cooler fuel at the regulator if your in death valley let's say in summer. I had a 70 C10 rclb that had a LT1 solid cammed 375hp 350 roughly with a worked 600 cfm Holley vacuum secondary carb. I drove it to Vegas, and then in death valley with no vapor lock issues. I used a bypass regulator, and the engine didnt have 1 hiccup due to hot fuel. Even pulling the grade going back to the Lone Pine area on the west side.

The highs that day were 117* F

Re: Edelbrock Carb Fuel Pressure Regulator

I have never used a regulator with my Eddy carbs with stock fuel pumps. I have also never bought a stock fuel pump that could pump more than 5 psi. This seems like unnecessary work and extra parts to me.

Agreed. I plumbed a pressure gauge inline right after the filter and before the carb on my (at that time, grimy) 366 when I installed an AVS2. Stock pump on mine is only good for about 4.5 psi.

Re: Edelbrock Carb Fuel Pressure Regulator

One thing I've found is the oil filled gauges read high once they heat up.
I ended up buying a Moroso gauge without the oil and it reads the same hot or cold.

Re: Edelbrock Carb Fuel Pressure Regulator

I have a manual choke version and mounted the regulator to the carb where the electric setup would mount. Probably not what you want but putting it out there.
