Questionable Threads & Posts
-
I typed this up to post in 95 S_Truckers thread but since he deleted it I will post it here. ----------------------------------------- The only thing I will say is that some of the threads and posts make the moderators job tough at times. What to do.... The rules do state this. Some know it and some may not. Quote:
Would some sections be changed if they were updated again? I don't know, but I'm betting section XVIII would not because of the discontent those subjects cause. I have heard it was a nightmare for the moderators and Administrators before the no politics/no religion rule was enacted. Depending on how blatant they are I sometimes overlook them unless there are complaints, either posted or reported through the "Report a Post" icon. I have moved a few threads to the moderator section of the board, went through them and removed posts and parts of posts that were reported and re-posted them to the original forum. I have also deleted a few. If the Administrators and Moderators receive a valid complaint they are required to review and act on it as needed. I know times are less than ideal right now but it is not the individual Moderators right to change the guidelines and rules. Only the Administrators can do that. I am going to move Trucksters thread to the Moderators section of the board and see if the Admins have time to review it for an opinion. They have been pretty busy lately so not sure when that will happen. On one hand I don't like removing anyone's thread or posts but when I volunteered for this Moderator position I agreed to do the job to the best of my ability, which I try to do. Sometimes it just SUCKS. Thanks for reading, LockDoc

Re: Questionable Threads & Posts
Thanks. Good idea posting this. For some reason I hadn't looked at that thread yet. We can't waiver. Nothing personal.

I thought 95 S_Trucker's thread was an interesting discussion and I'm sorry to see that it was deleted.

Re: Questionable Threads & Posts
Add up,all the paid, subscribers and commercial accounts and the moderators should be getting paid to spend their time watching the board ? if you really don't have anything better to do ?

Re: Questionable Threads & Posts
To the moderators and admin. Thanks, you guys and gals do an awesome job around here keeping the board moving positively forward without butting in to much. It keeps the site on track year after year and surviving. There are a few sites out there such as pirate4x4 and yellow bullet that take some thick skin to get any tech out of. It can be entertaining but the people here are so much nicer and you usually get answers to problems here quickly. The best part is how diverse the board is here. Purists, resto mods, factory, low riders, customs, racers, and even Napco enthusiasts. What a crowd. You learn from them all, even the ones that aren't your cup of tea. Thanks again.
Zep. That thread must of took a heck of a turn somewhere. I looked in on it a couple of times and then it was gone. |

Re: Questionable Threads & Posts
I knew the thread was wandering, but I never did see the controversial turn it must have taken.
I have a suggestion for us, the lay people. If you have a complaint about something that is said or happens in a thread, be a man and speak up in the thread, don't run to the moderators with a private complaint every time you get your feelings hurt.

Larry, the only problem with that is that the Moderators don't always see the complaint in the thread. I don't read every thread every day on here but I do read the "reported Posts" forum off and on all day as required by the Administrators. If they posted in the thread and used the "report a post " icon also, that would work..... Say a member has a problem with a thread or post and just posts in the thread with the complaint, and the OP or other offending poster decides to remove the offending post or thread. If they are pink and it has been over 30 minutes they won't be able to remove it. At that point only a Moderator or Administrator can do that. Just some thoughts. LockDoc

Thanks for all you do Leon, I don't envy your position.
Like Chevyland, we should lighten up and don't take it so seriously.

Anyway, I think of two things at times like this: In the words of the true great one Larry the Cable Guy - A lot of our problems would go away if everyone would pull their thumb out of their mouth and grow up. This statement I used to keep at the top of the white board in my office: Always remember rule #6. Rule #6: Don't take yourself so damn seriously. I appreciate all the moderators and this has been one of the best sites I have ever joined. I've gotten a wealth of information, some laughs, and some head scratches. All good stuff.

Re: Questionable Threads & Posts
Just so you all know, the "What Happened" thread never turned controversial and it was not deleted by staff. 95 S decided to terminate because it was going nowhere, basically. Now that I read the thread in question I feel he was right. Nothing personal, but this type of thread is simply not allowed. Harmful or harmless makes no matter. It was a religious thread.

Re: Questionable Threads & Posts
Maybe you should take a look at rule VIII and some of the stuff in this forum.

Re: Questionable Threads & Posts
Giving this some thought. Our great nation was founded by people who believed in God and prayer, yet nowadays it’s taboo to mention either in a public setting. Considering the current difficult situation our country is experiencing (and the world) it seems appropriate to encourage folks to ask God for help. Posting links to a sermon or stating things like “You heathens need Jesus” is out of line and shouldn’t be tolerated. I think of you guys as friends and it saddens me that we don’t have the freedom to express in any way the hope we have.
