First few passes in my truck

A little late on this but i took the truck out saturday to do some test n tune.
I ran on 93 octane and put the timing at 36° timing then off to the track.

First pass i left it in drive and left off idle. It went 8.11 with a 1.73 short time.
Went back and was gonna check the plugs cause it had a bog when i launched.
Pulled the wire off #1 and went for my tools and realized i forgot everything!! I found a flathead screwdriver so i checked the squirters, found a 36 in front and 40 in the rear!!! Put in 31 in fdont and back

2nd pass it hooked good leaving @ 1800 still had a 1.73 short time but went 7.84. Noticed on the return road it was missing and got worried. Went back and walked off to think about how bad it was. Came back and realized my dumbass forgot to put the plugwire back on!!!!

Last pass i left everything the same and hooked the wire up. Left at 2200 and it spun a little cause my weenie burnout. Had a 1.64 60' and it went 7.39
Full increments from the last pass was
R/T .042
60' 1.643
330' 4.792
1/8 7.397
MPH 93.62

All in all for 3 passes im pretty happy. Truck is ~4000 - 4100lbs with me in it.
Also, i wasnt giving it all it had by no means, mainly just playing around making some shakedowns passes and making sure everything is safe and sound!

Re: First few passes in my truck

That looks like some respectable times.

Do you plan to take it out again this season?

Glad to see you're back home. Thank you for your service

Re: First few passes in my truck

Thats real good. I see by your sig you got the power under the hood. Looks like you are getting it to the ground, and thats the hard parts with these trucks! What is your suspension set up?

Re: First few passes in my truck

Lol, my suspension is literally all stock in front. V6 springs with factory replacent shocks. The rear has oreilly non adjustable bell tech shocks with slapper bars .

Kinda suprised me that it hooked pretty good besides the last pass. On that pass when i did the burnout i didnt even get smoke off the tire, just kinda barked them and went. Lol

Re: First few passes in my truck

I believe once you through the tune up on it. Get the launch under controll you will be in the Lowe to mid 11's 1/4 and 7.0-7.20's 1/8 easy. Looks like you will be investing in a roll bar unless you have a set up all ready.
Nice runs by the way.

Re: First few passes in my truck

Thanks.
i need to put my ignition system on it, right now it just has an hei with stock coil. No shift kit in trans. Slapper bars and stock shocks. Also has a tiny hydraulic roller, ill switch to solid roller later. I think there is a lot left in it. With the solid roller i hope to run 6.70s to 6.80s. Then i hook up the 2 stage plate kit
also need to put my spacer on it so i have a vacuum port for power brakes again!!!

Forgot to put a video on here lol. Not the best quality, my wife shot the video with her cell phone. If you see something to criticize me on then do so!

Re: First few passes in my truck

Those slicks are about 8 yrs old. Dry rotted and wrinkle wall. I think with a fresh set of STIFFWALL slicks i'll be able to get the et down alot more.

Took the truck out this weekend. Lost 3rd gear #$@#%#$^@ Still went 7.51 and i normally shift to 3rd ~330 mark. Made some changes, locked the hei to 40 degrees and put a 2'' spacer on it. Blew the tires of way worse than last time and mustard up a 1.69 60' I think 6's are in it with new slicks and 3rd gear. I'm going to be doing some testing for a performance trans company out of Dallas so I got lucky on that part. Aggrivating because i'll probably be out until next year now!!!!
