1972 Blazer has A/C but SPID does not show it

Hey guys, question for the ones that might know. Did the dealers ever install A/C but not have it listed on the SPID? Have a 1972 project Blazer that has A/C but does not show it on the SPID. VIN plates match the SPID vin. Ever seen this?

Probably added by a PO. Check your firewall if it's been altered. Check this link and it shows the difference in AC VS non-AC firewalls. If yours originally didn't have AC then the firewall would have had to be cut. Another place you could check is the side AC outlets. If it's factory, then the edge of the holes would be die cut. If it was installed afterwards then the edges would most likely be rough and not symmetrical.

The only pic I have of the engine bay right now is this one. Not sure if it gives you enough to see anything that is in the wrong place.

Anything look wrong or different?

If the dealer installed it A/C would not show on the SPID.

The question I thought you were going to ask was "could the vehicle have been built with A/C but not be on the SPID?".

I would say "no" to that as well, since the same database drove the build information and what was printed on the SPID. Some stand alone RPOs are easy to add extemporaneously (like a trailer hitch) but A/C is too integrated to try to add on the fly.

From looking at your picture someone added factory AC. Well most if it anyway. it is missing the fresh air/recirc flapper door in the cowl and it appears that there are no holes for it or the vacuum can mount, plus an upper mounting screw is missing, again it has no hole in the firewall indicating that the AC was added.

I noticed that it did not have a bolt there as well. hmm Wonder how hard that will be to get up and running. Just bought this thing. Here is a picture of the dash that looks like a original uncut A/C dash. See anything weird about it?

I'm probably wrong but the only a/c I know added after the factory is added under the dash and has like a sort of horizontal unit under the heater face.

I think you are right. Had a chance to look it over. Someone before my tried to add A/C but never finished it. I have 3 extra full sets of A/C units so will have to figure out what I am needing and steal from those.
