Yovee, can't wait to see it. To post pics, click on "Post Reply" then click on the little paper clip icon and select browse. You can load up to 5, then click upload. Wait til they load and then go back and finish the post.

Think you may have taken a post of mine out of context.

The pickup Highlander plaid codes were:
Avocado 613
Blue 611
Gray 604
Orange 618

Your truck is clearly coded as a Highlander and Promo Package "B" as well.

Promo package codes and savings over individual option costs.

A= YG6 Plaid Trim, Special Wheelcovers C10 (PA1) or
Chrome Hubcaps C20-30 (PO3), Chrome Front Bumper, Upper Bodyside Molding (belt, pickups only), Door Edge Guards and Below Eye-Line Mirrors (DG4 on Pickups/Suburbans and DF2, full campers, on Blazers). A $94.50 savings.

B= YG7 (includes A) Adds Turbo-Hydramatic Trans., Power Steering and Tilt. A $178.50 savings.

C= YG8 (includes A and B) Adds A/C and Tint. A $260.50 savings.

The orange plaid in a gray coded truck does have me curious though.

If you are in picture mode some of the evap system, idle solenoid and related harness would be appreciated. its so nice to see a truck correct in so many ways.
there you go Tim. Let me know if you need anything else. The TCS hoses have been joined together.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Thank You!

More are always welcome but we need to address an issue.

You have another thread going specifically about your truck that I wasn't terribly clear about when I posted the link in #369
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=7183276

If I had seen your post about the shields there earlier I would not have replied nor asked here. The board has rules about double posting to eliminate a lot of duplication. Here in the plaid thread I think you should stop unless you are posting trim specifc pictures (like seatcover detail) or questions.

But please I encourage you to post all the details of your truck you want to share there in your other thread.

Everyone else, subscribe to it if you want details.

BTW I am claiming first refusal on this, your pattern truck if you decide to sell it! :-)

That's interesting. Looks like it's got everything for a YG6 package minus the below eye line mirrors.

To clarify some points about the original build.

This has to be the first case I have ever seen of chromed front and rear bumpers being replaced prior to first sale. The factory painted front bumper would have been white in this case.

The rear bumper is typical of a dealer sourced and installed example. Many, like this, are positioned lower than the factory option rear step bumper.

Radios were an option and this truck was assembled without one. While the term "radio delete" is commonly used it isn't actually correct for 67-72 trucks. Only in the case of a base build, line item not being installed for a credit is it then truely a "delete" option. Heaters, bumpers, spare tires and hub caps come to mind here. Though on later vehicles, when radios were standard, they could be deleted for a credit by law. Same goes for the "radio opening cover plate". :-)

On this particular radio it appears to be later than a unit the dealer would have installed new in 72. In fact with the box speakers it looks like a late 70s typical "boxed set".

Finally since this is your "pattern truck" the arm rests to be correct are white "as built".

Thanks again for sharing these pictures of your new truck.
The son of the original owner said his Father had the dealer take the chrome bumpers off and put the others on. I'm not sure of the time frame. I also want to ask him about the mirrors, looks like they were replaced at some point. I will also find out about the black armrests. They don't look painted. His Dad seemed to like black trim!

Agree as well. Maybe even a YG8 Promo Package from what appears to be DG4 mirror holes and a belt molding paint shadow. Just not very forthcoming about the hack and whack in the ad.

PSA: Remember guys, short beds do not have three stake pockets on each side.

The mirrors were indeed added at at some point. It was built with the near usless, IMHO, base (aka "sport") mirrors.
The pinstripe is also an add-on.

Black trim.... remember black was a big part of the Highlander special combination trim. The dash pad, steering column and wheel along with the carpet were all black from the factory. Black armrests are seen time to time as replacements and though easier to keep clean are incorrect.

That's a nice one - and 557 is not a deluxe 2-tone as shown, it's conventional 2-tone like this pic. A BEAUTIFUL combo in my book!

Just commenting here and it looks like a decent truck, The nice DG4 Below Eyeline Mirrors are gone, its been lowered and the seat looks like it may have seat cover on it. All a nice loaded Promo Promo Package Highlander with a BB and A/C.

Thats a sharp truck there Tim. Only thing that irritates me is the all original under the hood...except we replaced the engine. I'd drive it just how it is though

Yes, A NOM (non-original motor) is always a disappointing "except for....".
But this would make up for it in my book!

Yea Tim I wouldn't kick that engine out from underneath my hood! I'm a big fan of the hidden supercharger there. Makes it look clean and unassuming until you hit the skinny pedal...ok back to the plaid truck postings.

Someone, please, save this seemingly overvalued truck. It was posted before back in April IIRC. Possibly a YG8 Promo Package but it is surely a Highlander.

It looks like it was professionally painted as the outside is near perfect. I will have to do some deeper forensics with the glove box and the bezel to find out for sure. Also the instrument bezel would have to have been painted or replaced with a black bezel. Perhaps by removing it, I could see the backside and it may reveal the fawn as well. Thanks for this theory, I will certainly have a better look when I get some time.
The truck posted in #397 brought you back to mind. Did you ever get a chance to look into the suspected fawn glovebox door on your truck and dash bezel?
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=7103155

Be interested in nailing this down as original trucks continue to support the fawn door & bezel being correct for highlander plaid optioned GMCs.

Thanks for posting up your rare GMC Highlander. If you could post the SPID as well we'd really appreciate it.
