WOW! I just spent an hour of my life reading the background on this cab. Really fascinating reading. Ken, you had more patience than I would have had on this ordeal.

I love Liz's reply to CAG17 on the first or second page of the post too. LOL

Holes under dashpad are still there to accommodate a dash pad going back on. The ones that are "missing" may just be skinned over. They'll all be hidden... in fact, the dash is actually supposed to be done in gray vinyl. The guy that squirted it didn't think about that at the time so it got colored too.

I don't have any inside back of cab shots handy but it is ribbed (for per pleasure?

). The outside has been skinned with a sheet of steel. We left the ribs in place to keep the back wall rigid.

For the near term, the 6-banger stays. I've been struggling with what to do (if anything) re powerplant. I want a BB, but that's a lot of hassle to get it to fit, mounts, accessories, etc. I then thought about a jumbo SB (like World Casting's 427 or 454... they're turn-key and include warranty, and mounts, accessories, etc., are readily available for these trucks). I've also had a hankering to do a hybrid, but may want to hold off on this idea for "the right" vehicle.

As for the hinges, the only thing I know about them so far is that they were pricey

That's the remote reservoir for the brakes. The booster and MC are under the dash. We decided that it was going to be too tough to get under there with fluid, so they ended up under the cowl. The cowl is shaved so you won't see them.

WOW! Ballsy doing bodywork next to the completed cab. You should look in to the bodyman's tape. It is a lot thicker to protect your panels.

Some additional progress. Shaved bowtie, shaved signals, and inside of fender notch rolled and holes shaved.

man that thing is tough. I like the way the firewall is symetrical. I wanted to do that but already had paint on it. something to do later, MUCH LATER.

Ken,

Your truck is coming along really well. I love the hood hinges and the notched fenders.

If you would take the following comment as constructive.
Why not shave the firewall smooth where the e-brake cable use to exit?
It would complete the fire wall's smoothness.

Front end is all together and squirted now... just haven't taken any pics lately. Column is in and all the underhood wiring has been stretched and run inside the frame channel. I'm real eager to actually drive the thing some day soon. Once I get all the front done, I've got to tear into the bed for a major redo with several fun mods planned

Thanks all, for the comments... color is a "custom mix" based on 1971 Ford Grabber Blue. For those of you who know your color wheel, it's just a tad darker toward the red side.
