Yes Spec K drag racing was big in Dallas. Burkhart hired alot of big name drivers and I worked next door to Raymond Beadles shop in their hayday. You wouldent believe the promo and apparel goodies they gave me. Still have them.

I had my eye on one of the long flat bed tow trucks from Riverside Race way In Calif The one that have a major slant to them to me are very unsafe. The more level and straight one's are more desired and way more easyer to load.I pretty sure they where the 15 or 16 foot beds with diamond plate

If you look back through this thread you'll see alot of slant back transporters from back in the day, very safe when you chain everything down and nothing easier than pulling down your ramps and hooking up a winch. The ramps also allowed easy access to the under side of the race cars. This wedge design was not only safe and practical but it gave you room for spare parts stowage, generators, water tanks, etc. I love mine and apparently so did a lot of racers and mechanics.

Re: Tow Truck/Rollback/Hauler Pics

Some great additions since I last saw this thread. Hauling on a slant my appear hairy but I assure you it's a common practice with no more issues than hauling level.

You can almost hear those Vegas starting to rust as they headed towards the showrooms! I think those little cars were assembled with rust inside them at the plant.
