Project: Gold Rust

Started with a fairly clean 69 that needed freshening up and in need of a new
Power Plant and modern amenities yet keeping it simple

Re: Project: Gold Rust

Finally headed in the right direction. Just a mild notch
To keep the ol boy from bottoming out with the
lowered stance...nothing too drastic on this build. All new
rear end componets were replaced except for the gears.

Re: Project: Gold Rust

Now on to the drive train. This is a low mileage take out 5.3L/4L60 E
that will be powering this dude, hopefully giving him a much needed pep in his step. . We cleaned, freshened it up with all new seals, gaskets, fluids and new paint to boot.

Re: Project: Gold Rust

We decided to go with a sheet metal high rise intake along with a set of headers and that’s about as drastic as we will get with this build.

Re: Project: Gold Rust

Just to give another look with the intake on with headers. We’re trying to make sure everything flows accordingly.

Re: Project: Gold Rust

Almost forgot the fuel cell and towing package. We decided to relocate the tank out back so we could have options for speakers behind the seat. We will tow a crappie boat occasionally thus we planned accordingly.

A shot of the inner rocker gettin replaced and new inner fenders getting fresh paint. The door mirrors are getting faux pattina to flow with the scheme of the truck.

Re: Project: Gold Rust

Ok guys we pondered whether to paint the exterior but found that the original paint cleaned up pretty well. So we decided to lay fresh paint on the roof, clean the “Gold Rust” up a bit and give him a little clear coat to make it pop!

And on to the bed. Cleaned it up, sprayed some clear and laid a little wood. Next comes the wood stain. Stay tuned

Re: Project: Gold Rust

I think he clear coat really made the difference. The pictures just don’t do it justice...if you like the Patinna look.

It was time to begin running wires and tying in all of our components and accessories. Vintage air, Dakota digital, etc.

Re: Project: Gold Rust

We decided that the engine bay was a little to loud so we painted the intake and valve covers to match the firewall for a more reserved touch.
