Rescue or not???

I have the chance to save this truck from the crusher but I definitely don't need another project! What do you guys think??
The low down: 350 w/unknown auto trans, newer exhaust, no starter, wiring nightmare. Body looks fairly straight, dents have been pulled and skimmed but needs a lot of sanding etc. Some minor missing parts. Minor rust on part of the rockers. floors are solid. Cab corners are good. Is it worth saving for $1200??im NOT asking wiw, just worth Saving! I'm normally on the 60-66 page so don't know too much about the 67-72. All thoughts are welcome!

Re: Rescue or not???

Get it running. In my area that is a easy $4000 dollar truck.

Or sell it as a roller with spare parts you don't want for $2500

Re: Rescue or not???

Honestly, if you're up for it, you could easily make your money back parting it out to guys on the board here. The tailgate alone would make a lot of guys here drool...

I'm all for restoring it, but that's just the worst case scenario!

Re: Rescue or not???

Is there any wiggle in the price. I'd offer $500.00, but sometimes that screws things up. You make an offer and get the seller mad, then never have another shot at buying it...

Re: Rescue or not???

I vote for saving it.
Like others have said, you could easily get your money back plus more just from parting it out or spending some time to get it running. A truck like that is around $4k+ in my area.

Re: Rescue or not???

In ten years that'll be a "gem" around here!

Assuming it's not full of bondo, the body looks good, I'd definitely save it!

Re: Rescue or not???

Body looks good. '67 small rear window cabs are cool.
Not so sure about a Monojet on a V8, but you can upgrade the intake and carb, if the block is good.

Re: Rescue or not???

why dose ever one put the alt on the wrong side.If you use Ram horn exhaust Manifolds Us the first year HEI plug wires from a Corvette 1973-74 was the last year Corvette used Ram horn's But used HEI first year Plug wires 1-3 an 2-4 go throw the fron motor mounts Cleans up the motor plus you don't burn up your wires

Now this brackets are for the 1960--68 trucks If some of you are using 194 or 202 corvette heads with no holes in the head this bracket works for them heads.with the Small 283-327 water pump this bracket works with them.they work with even the heads that have holes But you need the Ram Horn's driver side with the 2 bolts Most important

Re: Rescue or not???

Now if you have holes in your head this Bracket work for 1955 --72 using the small 283-327 water pump reason the pulleys will not line up for the alt ps pump fan and crank pulleys this bracket is really fun to use they make 2 top brackets one the short one is for the car's the bigger one with the longer throw is the truck eather one will work Just need to find the belt that works with your system I will show the right Pulleys to use with them system Its the stock pulleys

Re: Rescue or not???

Now for the Plug wires where to run them Use some WD40 spay into the boot litely pull on the boot slightly twist the boot while pulling on it and it will come free To re install the boots add a little WD40 to the boot and push it back on making sure the plug wire is face the engine so your spark plug will go in .

So here are you pics

Re: Rescue or not???

These are the pulleys that work with the small block and the small 283-327 water pump Ya i'm working on better painted pictures buts it's all i have at the moment. This is the factory set up that makes all the brackets pulleys water pump exhaust manifold work on your stock chevy truck if your going to run Ram horns.Even if you updating to HEI i Have the pics to help you save time

Re: Rescue or not???

I've been told and use it on my 1972 3/4 ton If you use the extreme use 1975 454 Fan clutch it will fit most 7 Blade fans that take the clutch Fan.I buy them from Auto zone life time..Still working on a pic for that one but will have it up soon

But you can use it on any year 1955-72 with a 16-18 inch fan blade I like the 6-7 blades more cooling

Scrappers don't care. Its just another $100 bucks to them They busted an illegal car scrapping ring ten or so years ago here. These $%&#%$@%$-'"*-'s concentrated on easy to steal vehicles. (Like 60's & 70's vehicles) Their thiefs would steal a car and drive it directly in to the crusher. In less than 30 minutes a car would be gone forever. They finally got busted when a they heisted a guys 64 Galaxy from his drive way in broad daylight and he saw them. He called 911 and by chance a officer heard the call and 5 minutes later saw the Galaxy drive through the wrecking yard entrance. He flipped his lights on and followed it in. He found the car in the crusher but not crushed. They impounded all the equipment in the yard (most of it is still in the impound yard today). It was estimated over several years they crushed over a million dollars in cars illegally. Thats a million dollars at scrap price.
