Headed to Texas
I am headed to Texas next week. Should be a nice trip, I am looking forward to it since I have not been in Texas since 1972. I will be driving at night because of the hot weather. I put some mesh screen behind my grill today to help catch the zillion bugs that will be out between Missouri and Texas.

Actually you can go to Gilleys. It's not the old place of course, but Mickey's new restuarant with the same name.

I heard they were going to try another run at a Gilley's dance hall only this time in Dallas, but I think no matter how hard they try nothing will ever compare to Gilley's in its heyday in Pasadena TX. I wish it was still around.

They are building anew Gilleys in dallas right now I Think its supposed to open in october

I never heard of Gilley's, sounds like it must be a neat place. I am going near Fort Worth for a new transmission. I hope I get my timing right so I miss the bad traffic.

Are you coming down I35?
If so, get off in Gainesville and take 51 across to Weatherford. Beautiful drive, and you will hit zero traffic. It's actually a little closer too.

My wife likes to shop at the QVC outlet in frazer pa.Right next door is a real hardware store,The kind that the guys know where everything is.Went to qvc to get her,and saw a cd that was music from performances at Gilley's

PS. I am wanting to see that old pecan tree down there that is supposed to be between 900 and 1100 years old. That thing must be a monster.

I hope you have a safe trip! I'd offer to meet up with you, but I'm on the far NE side of Dallas and have a very full day with my ill wife and the doctors.

Then, you must have never seen the movie Urban Cowboy with John Travolta, Scott Glenn, Debra Winger and others. Much of it was filmed at Gilley's. You have to ride the mechanical bull at least once. I did it a bunch when I was twenty-some odd years yonger and it was a blast. Back then I was fearless and immortal, now I know better.

The trip went real well considering I have a non air conditioned truck
that Fort worth area has really grown since the last time I was down there. I was hoping to meet some of you Texas members. I saw alot of classic vehicles in Texas and alot of 67-72 trucks still on the road down there.

The new trans is great. I have been putting in a Dakota dash gauges and supposed to get 3:73 gears and posi this week. I think the gears will make a big difference in the truck with overdrive.
