02 noise

I have started to notice a noise in the front end of my 2002 z71. It does it the most when I make a slight turn to the left (like on a curve in a street). I got under the truck and looked around did not see anything rubbing. The sound is hard to describe but sounds metallic, its not a constant but kind of like in waves.

Maybe half-shaft?

Any ideas?

Re: 02 noise

How bout the disk brake pads? They have a wear indicator (schreecher for lack of a better description) that will touch the rotor when they get worn down close. At the early signs of wear they might only schreech when in a turn.

Re: 02 noise

Put a jack under the control arm and raise the wheel off the ground then with one hand on the tire at 12 and one hand at 6 try rocking the wheel up and down. There shouldn't be any noticeable slack in it. Spin the wheel while up off the ground and see if it makes any noise that way. Pull the wheel off and inspect the brake pads. The schreecher is located on the bottom edge of the outside brake pad. It is probably very close to touching the rotor.
