71-72 Grill bowtie fix?

I have a 71/72 grill bowtie that I thought was about as close to perfect as it gets. Unfortunately the stupid bowtie itself is cracked, poor packing I guess.

Are these middle sections reproduced? I hate buying a whole thing when my chrome surround is perfect just to get the blue bowtie.

Bending those little tabs is going to be nerve racking. I dunno if they are prone to busting off!

I don't remember ever seeing just the center, those tabs will break, all too easy . Someone will chime in with a solution. I have been thinking about making an insert but have not done it yet.

Re: 71-72 Grill bowtie fix?

Find one with nice blue plastic and swap it. Even use a repro. It would still be the OEM casting and quality chrome. Grind the tabs off, swap, hold new piece in with goop. It will never be a pristine or authentic N.O.S. part but can be a high quality restored part.
