Dash bezel lights and 2 mystery wires

My bezel lights haven't worked since I bought my truck. Just put in a radio and discovered 2 red wires by the fuse box that are just hanging. If I connect either one to the cluster feed my bezel lights work but won't go off. Any suggestions? Sorry but I don't have a wiring diagram. Thanks.

Re: Dash bezel lights and 2 mystery wires

This is your second thread about those pesky dash lights. In the other one, I told you the color of the dash light wire(s). Under normal circumstances, those 2 red "mystery wires" have nothing to do with dash lights.

No one on this forum has the ability to magically visualize what some inept person did to foul up the wiring on your truck. However, someone did recommend that you obtain a wiring diagram..

Where do the red wires connect to? The fuse panel? Depending on what year your truck is here is a picture of one of the fuse panels.

And here is a link to the wiring diagrams.

There is information all through the thread and there have been some additions and clarification so it wouldn't hurt to read through the whole thing.....

AND, last but not least, here are all of the '67-'72 GM truck manuals in PDF Format.....

Re: Dash bezel lights and 2 mystery wires

Thanks lock doc this was a big help.tracked down one of the wires and took care of that one. The other I just can't determine where it goes. It come thru the firewall by the horn relay. Have no gray wire at all going to cluster feed.
