Re: Just bought a project 67

Just an update, I got my new wheels!! They look awesome! Also, got the front roll pan welded on and test fitted. I bought the pan from Mar-k, damn good piece I must say however, it's a ***** getting it all lined up, it's a big puzzle. Next it's pull it apart, do the body work on the grill, fenders and paint the front clip, body work on the cab, paint then on to the bed… maybe I’ll even get to drive it sometime this year!

Re: Just bought a project 67

Well, I don't have any more excuses to put off finishing the bodywork. I've decided that sanding isn't that much fun. Anyway, I bought a 4.11 posi rear end from 70RS/SS, what a cool guy! He even delivered it at the crack of dawn, but he was down in the valley for other reasons as well, so I'm not complaining.

Anyway, took apart the rear, replaced the seals, scubbed it (it had new gear oil already complements of Mike) swapped over the disks and added a chrome cover to boot! Scrubbed, sanded and painted everything and I think it looks awesome!

Now onto bodywork, paint and exhaust. Hopefully I'll get to actually drive it by Xmas!

Anyway, here are the photos, enjoy!

Nope, used the stock axles. It was a bolt on kit. As for the e/brake, what E brake? I still haven't figured that one out quite yet. Just hope I don't have a trans failure at the same time the brakes go out. If it was a standard, I would have thought twice about that.

whatnow123,

What year silverado seats did you purchase? How well did they fit?

Im looking to swap over to a newer seat with intergrated seatbelts.

Thanks any help would be great.

They are out of an 05 Silverado that had 5K miles on it (wrecked and in salvage yard). I looked at a few sets of seats but not all of them had a fold down center. I think the seats with the fold down center are the upgraded interior package as they were more comfortable and are more "sport car" like as they wrap around you a bit when you sit in them instead of being "flatter" type of the none fold down center. At least that was my interpretation as I looked at a couple of sets.

As far as fit, they fit in the cab very well and bolt to the floor easy, but you have to reinforce the floor on the underside as there isn't any reinforcement under there where they do bolt. They are also little thicker and higher than the stock seats due to the seat belt and cushions. Over 6'1" would probably prefer a stock set up for more leg room. I moved the center console back and it bolted it directly flat on the floor, it doesn't flip all the way up for the center seat but gave the cab quite a bit more wiggle room. I also recommend compressing the steering column down (FAQ Thread) as that made it really comfortable for the steering wheel as well.

Re: Just bought a project 67

She has paint! Here are some updates.... next is to paint the cowl hood, make some adjustments to the panels and then on to the bodywork on the bed.

Took her out for a blast around the hood, very heathly, (notice the lack of tire stickers on the rear now) hopefully with the bed and more gas in the tank she will hook up better as it's a handfull now when you get on it.

That is a very nice build you have going. You have done alot to that truck and it looks sharp. It will be nice to see it finsihed and cruising the streets.

Did you have to change the brake booster to go disks out back? If so, what did you use? Thanks for the great build thread.

Re: Just bought a project 67

Here are some photos with the bed on. It's the first time I have had it on, the truck came with a 55 to 64 bed...which I didn't realize at the time as I didn't know much about the truck. I'm really liking how the rear wheels/tires fit in there. I just got the bed blasted this week and hopefully will be able to shoot the paint for the cowl hood and bed before the end of the month!

Thanks for all the great feedback! I'm really happy with it so far!

As far as the rear disk and the booster, I haven't done anything with it since the swap, but I haven't driven it other than around the block either. I'm not sure if I'm going to have to swap out the proportioning valve to an adjustable one or not. I'm assuming so, but other board members haven't had to with thier swap, so I guess I'll have to wait and see once it's road worthy.
