i am going to be putting electric locks and windows in my truck within the next 6 months and was wondering if it is possible to use the fuse block and wiring harnesses out of a later model truck with power windows and locks and blade type fuses to make the installation of windows and locks and everything else easier to work with and more up to date, What i am doing is using a stock look with modern conviences, what do yall think

Anything will work given enough time and money. Check out Painless Wiring, they may have an updated wiring harness perfect for your 71.

Anything can be done. If you had a stock wire harness diagram you easily convert a new fuse panel to work. You would have to be fairly good at wiring and soldering for something reliable. Also, you would have to modify how the fuse box would connect into the harness on the engine-side of the firewall. That would be the tricky part in my opinion.

When I installed my LS1 into my truck, I installed a aux. fuse block. It is on the heater box just below the glove box. I used this to fuse my coils, injectors, computer, fan, and fuel pump. I just ran a separate power wire from my battery to the fuse panel. I think it was an 8 gauge wire or bigger. This might be an easier option for you and you still get the blade-type fuses.

What you might think about doing is add an auxiliary fuse block next to the factory block. Run a 10ga. wire directly from the battery to the new unit and you can swith part of it with a relay connected to the ignition.

i am wanting to rewire the whole truck except for the rear end i am thinking that a harness out of a mid 80's truck would work just change out the pigtails if needed but using the harness just as if it where in the truck that it belonged.
