New here. 91 Burban, (my old tires) 10-2-10

Hi. Name is Mike and I am new here, but not to the truck scene. First off pics.

It's a 91 Silverado model minus the power mirrors. It's got the 5.7 with 161,xxx miles and still purs like a kitten. It's got a 6 inch lift with 36 bias ply super swampers TSL on 16" MT Classics. All original body, with no filler. Has 2 small rust spots above the side rear windows. She has to be one of the cleanest burbans in the northern states, since she has been here all her life. Any comments good/bad please let me know.

Re: New here. 91 Burban

How much do you want for it!

Looks great, that's the 4wd match for my wife's 2wd Burb.
Hers is just as clean but you have much better paint.
I love the look, would kill to have that one for a matching pair in my driveway.

What kind of light bar is that, I have been looking for one for my 87 4wd?

Re: New here. 91 Burban

Well everyone always has a price haha. I would love to see your wife's burban. I am actually looking into a 2wd so I can bag it and drive it to shows. The light bar is an older KC version. They are not hooked up yet cause she only has 1 battery and regular lights, fog lights, off road lights, and the addition of the light bar do work well on the battery.

Here's the link to my wifes ride.
90 Burb
Needs some TLC, but after seeing how good your paint looks I'm gonna stick with stock colors I think.
Trying to talk the wife into 19.5" rims, but will most likely just get a set of 16" aluminum ARE's instead.

Is yours a barn door or tailgate rig?

Yeah they cover the roads here with salt and it's very rough on vehicles. Thanks for the complement.

Re: New here. 91 Burban

I had to get mine in California ... I picked up a 1990 rust free but that was back in the day with the waterborn paints and primers ... plus the sun and sand kills the paint .
For my build the truck was perfect for me . Yours looks great with the 6" lift !
I allways found my self going bigger and bigger ... So I just went right to the 8" springs .
Any mods planned ? I'm building mine with a Cummins .
Whats up with the mud flaps hanging off the back ?... There huge ! I know our state can be tough on state inspection .

Any pics? Haha, the mud flaps are there only for the cops. It's a kit that slides onto my hitch. They really do not like lifted trucks and not really living in the country does draw me a lot of attention. good and bad. Inspection is no big deal for me, cause I just take all my rides to my buddy and he makes sure they pass.

I want to do maybe a 4:56 gears (still thinking about the ratio), air lockers, POR15 the underneath before winter (hopefully), and when the 350 goes, I will try and get a 6.0 and do a swap.

I had a 07 Trailblazer SS and I loved the power of the 6.0 in that.

I like it for some strange reason haha. I am very jealous about the power mirrors. What are his plans for it if any?

Re: New here. 91 Burban

Inspection is no big deal for me either ... Still have my inspection license at my buddies station . There is not as many big trucks on the road I have noticed ... I think the economy and kids these days want the cars with the loud chrome muffler .
I just finished plating and boxing the front of my frame , I am adding alot of with the 6bt , nv4500 / np250 , dana 60 / 14bolt 4.56 ... I have not built a truck in over ten years and for got how much work it really was .
My new deaver custom 52.50 springs just came in .
I also have to do the paint also ... I owned a body shop so not biggie there .
Here's a few of the frame ...

Re: New here. 91 Burban

wow those are some beefy springs. I can't wait to see the end result in your project. I have no time to get any of my projects off the ground even though I went to school for auto body, and have already did several of my old rides. I work full time and am also getting a second job, so I have slowly been getting rid of my all my rides. Only have my 83 left, (need to pull the motor out) and my Y2K Xtreme which I am looking to sell. That will only leave me with a 07 impala, 91 burban, and 85 olds delta 88. That was my first car and I will never get rid of that.

Re: New here. 91 Burban

Well the plans we have are to replace the driver door which came with the truck, replace the carpet kit came with truck, Windshield replace, Get rid of the jap lights New tailgate window track, hook up the 4x4 drive shaft, replace window motors, repaint interior, tuck headliner, replace exhaust manifolds, leaving it the same color but taking all the dents an repairing all the rust spots on the roof maybe re chrome the rims but thats my thought

Re: New here. 91 Burban

Put my 35's on her for winter. Wow I almost lost 2 whole inches between the 36" swampers and the 35" hoosiers. But man does she ride nice on radials lol. Sorry about the pics, but it's very sunny out today and I need to go to bed.

The rear showing how much room I have now with these 35's.

Re: New here. 91 Burban

Oh and now a question. I am going to be running 35's or 36's through out it's life, so I was thinking of going with a 4:56 ratio. The motor is all stock also. Anyone have any thoughts?

4.56 is a great gear for 35's. You might find that mileage will improve with them. I would suggest 4.11's at the bare minimum.
