Are cowl panels being repro'd? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I see that fire walls are available but was wondering if the piece just above that is available? This piece goes behind the fenders and runs up across the top. (not the outer cowl that you see but the metal just under that)

$279 for the outer??? They are everywhere used in great condition for 1/10 that much. That piece takes a lot less to make than the inner. Makes me wonder about the quality of the inner.

Here's some pictures of the cowl being changed on my Cheyenne 10. I bought this from LMC and believe it or not, the fit was good for being an aftermarket piece. Couldn't believe my eyes how good it fit.

I got mine from Southern KY Classics www.sokyclassics.com . $195 and it fit great.

What do you all think a shop would charge to change this cowl panel out? The truck was at the shop, front cap off, then we discovered that the cowl should be changed. This is what was done: 1) Cowl cut off; 2) Sand blasted under cowl; 3) Some pinholes welded under cowl; 4) New cowl installed and primed with epoxy primer. Anybody want to chime in with an estimated cost, not including the cost of the new cowl? Keep in mind this truck is in restoration at a reputable shop because I'm no paint and body or sheetmetal man.

That must be nice, cuz their tailgates sure don't fit worth anything.

hey i might be cutting up a 68..it has a good cowl ( has some rust by the vent locations)..ill know in 2 weeks..im getting a different cab,so ill have no use for this on(the roof is in bad shape..

Not sure but I would be curious to know, $500??
