barn door won't go open

Hi all ,

nothing "Burb" related , but I own a "Van" with the rear barn doors , and those @#*£% doors will not get open anymore ...

I presume the locks and the whole mechanism are the same on the "Burbs" , so I thought I would ask for some informations here ...

even with the electric lock or with the key on the door --> no way

has anyone ever encoutered the same problem ?

Thanks ,

the Baron

Re: barn door won't go open

My right-hand barn door ('79 Sub) sometimes goes through spells where it won't open unless I whack it near its lower left-hand corner while holding the button down & pulling on the handle. Might work for an emergency, but the repeated blows will cause the sheet metal to bend inward. Mine's so ugly it doesn't matter.

Re: barn door won't go open

I had my boat hit the handle of the barn doors once and push it in and bent it down a little (don't ask about that story...). That caused the button on the handle not to push against this metal piece that opens the door. Locking and unlocking didn't do anything, it just wouldn't line up. I had to take it apart from the inside... take the molding and then door panel off. Then, I was able to fix it.

Do you have any pressure when you push the button in?? If you can push it in all the way easily and nothing happens, then I bet it is not hitting that metal piece when it should.
