coppersled k5

This is my k5 i bought feb 3rd. Its a 350/350 2wd. This pic is how i picked it up. Plans are 4.5" front drop and 4" rear drop, powdercoat my 15x8 rallys and put them on it. I will use chrome center caps and beauty rings. I also want to run 40 series mufflers on it. It has headers already. Hope y'all follow my progress.I should have the wheels and drop on in the next two weeks.

Re: coppersled k5

Ive ordered a few parts. My plans are still the same for right now. I will deploy to alfganny in june so while im there ill be buying parts for it. I plan on rebuilding my other 350 that came out of my 89 z71. The plan is a 383 producing around 400hp. I plan on upgrading my trans by building the trans also. I have a rearend with 411 gears in our shop but ill prolly run slightly higher gears with posi trac. I was considering bagging the k5 but id rather see this as a hot rod now. Im also ordering speakers, head unit,amp,etc....! When i return home i will do 100% interior using 99 up seats. Ill keep posted, thanks!

Re: coppersled k5

So I got a great idea and hope it works! I just bought a set of 22x9.5 kmc rockstars in the machined color. I'm thinking that they will look very unique and diff but will match my trim very nicely. I ordered a 4.5/4" drop kit, 40 series flowmasters, new trim where I'm missing it,and a whole new stereo with polk audio speakers. That's all for today. I've spent roughly 3000$ on parts

Nice blazer.
I love all the (70-82) 2wd versions.

Unless those 22x9.5's have a ton of backspacing,... your going to have a hard time keeping them inside those front fenders.

Re: coppersled k5

This is my 2nd k5 and I've had 2 c10s,I've learned offset and backspacing the hard way! +12mm offset and I ran +14 22x9.5s on my last c10 and it had a 4" drop with no issues!

Re: coppersled k5

Very nice ride. I always liked Blazer and Jimmys. I like the thought of a 2wd project, however up here where I live there are far more 4 wheel drives than surviving 2 wheel drives.

Good stuff.

Re: coppersled k5

I decided to pull my interior out because i spotted some rust. I will be buying floor pans from front to rear. Its sucks but oh well. Ive got my mufflers, springs, and stereo stuff in today. I will post a pic of my rust and my interior gutted. Im ready for my wheels to show up. I plan on taking off the fog lights up front and polishing my bumpers this weekend.

Re: coppersled k5

Hey Doods, its cold as hell here in alabama! I have taken my fog lights off and have run my 40 series flowmasters. I will upload pics Monday when I'm around a computer worth a poo. I have received all my parts besides my 2.5" spindles and my 22s! I also just ordered 100 square feet of dynamat. If it warms up by the time my spindles arrive then ill be dropping it that day haha. Its wayyyy to high right now lol.

Does anyone use dynamat? I'm hoping its what I'm expecting.

Re: coppersled k5

The pic is just a teaser pic, i wont install them until i do my drop.I have recieved all my parts. I plan on dropping it the weekend after next since im in the process of moving. Im putting the dynamat in this weekend to cover up the rusty floor until i return home from overseas.

Im almost positive my motor is a 305 so that peez me off a little. Im also pretty sure im running like 2.42 gears because i can easily cruise at 80mph on the interstate. So when i return home ill be changing my complete drivetrain. Im thinking of going with a crate motor from GM unless you guys have a better plan. Im not looking into going all out and hurt the wallet to much. GM performance has a 260hp w/ 350lbs of tq and i think it would be a good combo with some 3.23 gears! Any opinion would help. Ive also looked into blueprint engines also and i like their prices.
