Re: I thought this was a pretty cool find (72 Cheyenne Super shortwide big block)....

No, I thought it was a good deal considering that it's an original truck and all.

lolife and vwbeamer - I agree kinda high for any given truck in this condition - but, to me, 90% of the price for this truck is the rarity and the originality. Yes, it would take about $10-15K to get it fully restored. Would it be worth more than the $12K selling price (or whatever he settles on) PLUS the, let's say, $12.5K resto price - I'd submit yes. Fully restored big block cheyenne super with all orig numbers matching like this would easily sell for more than $24.5K I believe. But I had the same reservations - lotsa work to be done to it (good point about the seat, but I believe the mileage is legit - over to the buyer though). Personally, I'd be happy with a 350! but this one caught my eye. Really tempted to buy it just for a future project - but with all the moves in between now and the time I'd get to it, I'd have another $3-4.5K in it in shipping costs (2-3 moves, maybe) before I even took a can of wax to it. Crimeny. I'll bet someone on here is calling on it already!!! I hope so - wanted you all to see this, I thought it was interesting - no, it's not a steal by any stretch, that's for sure, but if you have your heart set on an original, low mileage big block cheyenne super - this is something that will get your attention! As such, probably a fair price. Like they say, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

I'd say a couple cans of ether and send it to Barrett Jackson as is - some knucklehead will pay $50K for it there...

EDIT - sameyrasmea, this made me think of YOUR truck!!

That is a a very cool truck!!! and sort of just like mine. As for the price, I have turned down $12,000 for mine. If I bought that truck I would search long and hard for an original paint door and an original paint headgate and probably never paint it. I have replaced to many parts to list on my truck with other original parts from our parts trucks.

Re: I thought this was a pretty cool find (72 Cheyenne Super shortwide big block)....

If I had more interest, I'd make my best deal (around $10k), ship it home ($750), freshen-up drive train ($3,500), add the missing trim ($200), put a set of truck Rally wheels on it ($300). Make sure brakes, exhaust, tires etc. were good ($750), miscellaneous stuff ($1,000) and hopefully have a very drivable rust-free SWB Cheyenne Super BB for around $17k??

sameyrasmea, I'd HOPE you've turned down $12K.... Yours is in much, much better shape than this one.

Dan, did you feel it? - we just had a vulcan mind meld.

One more thought. Un less in really Just needs an overhaul, you could probably freshen up a BB for about $1200.

You guys know I am a sucker for a well documented Big-Block SWB Super!!! Please someone stop me. I need help, maybe counseling...... I feel powerless!!! The part that really has me excited is the intact upper smog bracket (makes my sick mind near certain the engine is the original TLM 402).

Not going to get it from me. Oh yeah, also, I have a mustard door, tons of trim, 5-6 sets of rallys if that would help.

Not dissing the truck, but a question - I thought Supers would have the paint separator trim on the cab under the back window, even if a solid color. Not so?

No paint divider when top and body are the same color (notice the black trucks).

Thats cheap considering the price of rust. I would seriously look at buying it if I did not already have a Blazer sitting here I have not had time to finish.

Well worth $12k IMO... you can't find these trucks in original paint let alone a BB super.

Money well spent for the new owner of this truck.
