Tub lifting safety
How did you lift your tub off the frame safely? I am going to try to do this today and have no help. I usually am pretty safe and that's why I dont like help. I don't want to hurt anyone. I need to switch frames out as mine is bent. Both are rollers but how do you keep the tub in the air while switching? I have had this old girl for 22 years and would like any help at all from the forum to put her back on the road. (4x4-2wd conversion)

if you have an engine hoist you can bolt chain to the tub in 4 spots so that its balanced and lift it. or much easier way is to get a case of beer and invite 4 or 5 buddies over to watch football and get them to swap the tub.

I was thinking about that.. Taking the top off (heavy) and tailgate and putting the hoist Up behind it and lifting that way. Is that your thinking?? All my buddies are broken right now. And their tv's are bigger than mine.HAHA!

I use an engine hoist, two 30 gal drums, a railroad tie and a few short 4X4 pieces.
I will lift up one end with the hoist. position each barrel far enought apart to clear the tires, wrestle the railroad tie on top of the barrell and use 4X4 to make up the height needed to clear everything, set the body down on the tie, move the hoist to the other end and lift, then roll out the frame |

the way liverat did his is how i lifted mine off my trailer and on to some saw horses. when i bought it i loaded it with chains from inside and picked it up with a tractor.

theres a link from my build thread. since i had a rollbar on mine i just hooked a chain on the rollbar and lifted it up and rolled the frame out from under it. we set the tub on an old trailer frame while the actual frame was getting painted and lines bent, etc.. and worked on filling holes in the firewall for the vintage air. then put it back on with the payloader. no damage at all...but not all people have access to stuff like this like i do. perks of living on a farm i guess lol

I don't have a wheel loader, or a tractor...but I was still able to get my tub off all by myself
