Can you let us know what the weight difference is between these and the stock spindles? The closest to an apples to apples comparison would probably be spindle, hub and rotor. thanks.

Re: Wilwood C10 Drop Spindles

Are they the same height as the stock spindles or are they a tall design to improve camber and roll center?

Also, do these have the same caliper mounting points as the CPP modular spindles? I would love to use these in combination with a big brake kit that is not wilwood.

From my understanding from reading and what the kid told me from Wilwood. These will only work with the Wilwood big break kit.

Thanks, I know they are a 2.5" drop, but I meant is the overall height from ball joint taper to ball joint taper a taller measurement? Like most aftermarket AFX drop spindles that are a "tall" spindle for improved camber.

Pretty sure they use the stock dimensions. This is from Wilwood's website.

I used .500" taller upper ball joints from QA1 to help with camber gain. Details and camber gain measurements are on page 27 of my "Goldilocks" build thread. Depending on the amount of weight loss I may be trading in my CPP spindles for these if I can make my 2nd gen CTS-V brakes work on them. I still needed caliper brackets for the CPP spindles anyway, and I already have the late style ball joints so these will bolt straight on.

Re: Wilwood C10 Drop Spindles

Can someone post the weight of the new spindles and hubs?

I have weighed both stock-style 12" disc brake spindles/rotors/calipers, and my CPP Modular spindles/hubs and 2nd gen CTS-V rotors/calipers for comparison. As you can see, the StopTech rotors are very heavy, so I'll probably end up using something lighter. The factory dual-cast rotors are lighter but GM recommends replacing them every pad change so they won't last long on a truck built for the track. I thought the StopTech rotors would last longer.

12" Stock-Style Disc Conversion Parts:
  • Spindle/Rotor Assembly with bearings, seals, and pads- 55 pounds
  • Caliper.- 10 pounds, 3.7 oz

Total assembly- 65 Pounds 3.7 oz, each side.

CPP Modular Spindles, CPP forged hubs, 2nd gen CTS-V Calipers, and StopTech slotted iron rotors- 2nd gen CTS-V fitment:
  • Rotor 28 pounds, 4.0 oz
  • Caliper 8 pounds 14.9 oz
  • Hub 5 pounds, 2.0 oz
  • Spindle 18 pounds, 0.9 oz

Total- 60 pounds 5.8 oz

Re: Wilwood C10 Drop Spindles

This thread is a few years old but has anyone made a bracket to bolt c5/c6 calipers to the pro spindle? I see wilwood sells a lot of brackets but I am not sure if any will work.

Re: Wilwood C10 Drop Spindles

That bracket is for a totally different caliper type.

You might not be able to with the spacing of the mounting points of both caliper and spindle. Look in my build thread I used those spindles on some 2018 Silverado calipers. Pretty much same as the nnbs with 13" rotors. Custom designed spacers and bracket to fit the rotor which was the be best option for my 17"

Only decent progress pic in MDF

Re: Wilwood C10 Drop Spindles

It looks like they turned out good, I was hoping to find an easy adaptor to throw a set of vette or newer camaro brembo calipers on them.

Nope, none that i could find.. had to design and make my own. Having a small 17" wheel limited me to the stock size rotor.

Re: Wilwood C10 Drop Spindles

This is an old thread but i stumbled across this new CPP X10 spindle. Similar to the wilwood but i believe it will accept stock C5 brakes and rotors on page 8.

Looks appealing.

I find it annoying (typical of CPP) that you can't purchase the "X10" spindles & hubs only. You get to pay for a kit w/the extra 'value' of the included BJ's, TRE's, & TRE sleeves that usually aren't top tier quality of parts.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Although I agree that there ball joints and tie rod ends are not likely the best quality available.
I am sure the reason they sell it this way is because they did not want to have to build 3 different variants of this spindle and have to deal with the inevitable problem of mismatched ball joints and tie rod problems that people constantly have with the 63-89 trucks. In this instance one package should cover this wide range of years.
If anyone was going to run the Wilwood spindle on their 67 they would have to change all of these components anyway. So it does make sense for CPP to package them this way.

I'll agree to disagree. A simple statement telling you what spec/year BJ's & TRE parts are required would suffice (much like the ORIGINAL drop spindle when it came out).

Re: Wilwood C10 Drop Spindles

So an earlier post said 18lbs for the modular cpp spindle and the forged hub at 5lbs. I would like to get rid of some un-sprung weight my self. I have the Modular drop spindle and a wilwood big brake kit. Sure would be nice to know if the Pro spindle with bearing and hub weighed any less.
The sight says 43lbs shipping weight but I would think that would include the box or what every they ship it in. If there is only 3lbs different per side its hard to justify the extra dough.
