OUCH---Any ideas on this ???

Been over two years now and in between health issues I have been taking a stab at working on the White Elephant. Welding is getting a bit better now I ran into this fitment issue. Back passenger side rear door pillar. I am thinking that I will just have to buy yet another part as it is 0ff a 1/4 of an inch. Another question is that when i bought the truck the rear corners had been done and the foam miracle fix was applied. They filled the corners and along the back where it would sink in between the floor pan and back wall. I dug it all out and both corners now can be pushed in about a 1/4". Should I tack weld the corners or just push it in from the back when i weld the door jamb patch piece on?
First pic shows how much the cab can be moved forward. Second line is where it can be pushed forward to.
Second pic show the fitment problem to the right of the red circle. The replacement piece is not deep enough to match up to door jamb by 1/4".
Third pic is basically useless to my problem prolly took out of frustration. LOL

Re: OUCH---Any ideas on this ???

Recently did inner and outer rockers, cab corners, a-pillar bottoms, and all four cab mounts on my '61 C10.

No aftermarket panels fit. You will likely need to do some slicing and dicing. I did lots of cutting to make all my parts fit.

Reference the door in placing the outer rocker, and do whatever you need to to make the outer rocker fit where the outer rocker needs to go.

Re: OUCH---Any ideas on this ???

Just going to second the above advice. I did inner and outer rockers. The outer didn't line up to the door bottom by about 1/4". I was just as frustrated. You can check my build thread for more info.

If you start to get frustrated, remember that you match the new to the old. If the body line/door opening started off matching, then slice and dice the new stuff to fit. I think the only advice that I wish I had was to leave the flanges alone and slit the middle of the panels to shrink/grow. It seems like more welding, but it's a lot less hammer/dolly and working in corners. This saves time in the long run.
