Door Lock Not Behaving Itself.. Help?

Hey there guys. Haven't posted in a while. I've got a '72 c10 and was wondering if anyone knew how I could fix my driver side door lock? The passenger side works fine as it should, however the driver side never wants to lock for me. Never. When I push on the button, it feels like it has maybe bent? It won't go down and I don't want to REALLY force it (I've put a considerable amount of force on it.) for fear of it breaking further. I don't know where to start my troubleshooting for a bent part? Or something is rusted maybe? I know nothing about how door locks work and was hoping someone could enlighten me?

You can get the lock part out in a few minutes. I would take it out and spray the crap out of it with WD40 and work it till its nice and loose! I dought the rods are bent as little as they move.

I don't know if you are aware of it or not but on these trucks you can't push the button down and close the door to lock it you have to lock it from the outside with the key....

If you roll the window all the way down you can see the lock parts if you shine a strong light down inside the door behind the window.

Like TacBlade said spray the crap out of it down through that opening, but I wouldn't use WD-40, Use PB blaster or any other GOOD penetrating oil.

I'm aware of that. I meant that the lock does not push down at all. And thanks.

Try pushing the door closed while locking; I use my knee to gently push on the door and then lock. Something is worn out a little!
