Re: Flowmasters getting on my nerves...

I had 40 knockoffs put on the '67 Panel Truck with the LS1/4l60e. The pipes are all the way back and angled out the sides. My hearing is pretty bad and the drone still drives me nuts. I am planning on driving it on some long trips so I am going to have them replaced next Spring, but I don't know what to put on it. I have been thinking about stock type mufflers with electric cutouts. I have 3 or 4 months to think about it....

Re: Flowmasters getting on my nerves...

I gave up running Flowmasters for a couple reasons. The first one being that I had to replace the muffler way to many times, due to the sidewalls cracking and breaking open and second, due to the sound being too much of a drone to be comfortable. I now run Magnaflow stainless steel mufflers and I get the longevity that I want and the sound is right about where I want it for daily driving. Loud when you are hard on the pedal and a rumble when you are not.

Re: Flowmasters getting on my nerves...

I had the American Thunder system on my Challenger, it was un-drivable due to drone. I had a muffler shop install a J pipe and zero in cab drone, I regularly drove it out of state.

Done give up on it just put a J pipe in you will love it, I will dig up a photo of mine to show you. it is just a pipe which is capped at the end and the frequency bounces back and cancels itself out. There is a lot of information on the internet on selecting the correct length for the drone RPM.

Re: Flowmasters getting on my nerves...

I have dynomax super turbos piped straight out the rear and they are a bit loud behind a stock LS1. No drone and they sound awesome, but I wish I went a bit quieter. YMMV
