What is this bracket thingamadoodle?

Two questions... does anyone know the correct name for the piece of linkage that I've circled in yellow?

More important, I need the little plastic grommet or bushing that goes in it where it slips over the stud of the frame mount. Since I don't know what it's called, I'm having trouble finding it.

Thanks!
Dave

Thanks... I guess I should have been more specific (I know where it goes, because I took it off). Is it the TH400 shift pressure modulator emulsifier bracket? Or the Hydramatic intensifier rod? Or the Automatic Transmission Lockout Optimizer? Or J-14739?

LMC and friends aren't showing anything like it in the catalogs, so maybe its a 3/4-ton specific part. All their linkage diagrams have a girlyman setup that just goes right to the trans with no pivot.

Re: What is this bracket thingamadoodle?

I guess I should reitterate that I care less about what its called than where to find the little grommet or bushing thing that goes in it. If anyone knows, please let me know!

The GM parts books called it a transmission control cross shaft, and to the best of my knowledge there was never a plastic grommet or bushing where it slips over the frame bracket pivot stud, it was metal on metal there from the factory between 67-72. The only bushing on that piece of auto linkage should be where the upper control rod (from column) attaches to the cross shaft. Mel

Re: What is this bracket thingamadoodle?

Here's a picture of it and the bushing/grommet. It was old and fragile and broke when I popped it out to sandblast the bracket.

Dave did you ever find this piece? My search has come up empty. I am thinking of making a bronze bushing but if someone sells a $2 bushing I don't want to waste my time.

Now that's good for a laugh right there

Re: What is this bracket thingamadoodle?

Chrysler used to call that a Sperling Bearing. It connects to the sinusoidial input shaft and makes tail lights brighter

Re: What is this bracket thingamadoodle?

Thanks, I was real busy at work today so I made a polyurethane bushing on the lathe. We dont have any Delrin on hand but it sure would have been better to machine.

I can't believe someone isn't reproducing the stock bushing for this.

Re: What is this bracket thingamadoodle?

That is actually pretty cool so I have to ask if you could make another and I will PM you an offer on price and shipping as I am challenged, no lathe or experience on a lathe.

Re: What is this bracket thingamadoodle?

I think GM calls them a transmission linkage bellcrank too. Hard to find at salvage yard for sure. My 67 does not have a bushing were the bracket slips on the frame bracket stud and the diagram does not indicate one used. The bushing for the different style frame bracket used on the 73-87 is available on ebay: GM FRAME LINKAGE/ SHIFTER/ GEAR SELECTOR CROSS SHAFT BUSHING - Chevy

Re: What is this bracket thingamadoodle?

I used a bronze bushing that is about an inch long and has a flange one end. I purchased it at Big R. I don’t remember what it cost but it was not expensive.
