87-90 Jeep Wrangler gas tank

Going with a Jeer Wangler gas tank. Will the 1" fill hose work ok or should I solder in a larger neck?

Re: 87-90 Jeep Wrangler gas tank

I used one. wasn't happy with routing options and the 1" neck concerned me. I ended up getting a bolt on fuel cell neck and cutting an access hole in the bed. Not my favorite mod to date.

Making some head way on tank mounting jeep gas tank. Two 5/16 bolts hold the front of tank on cross member. 1 in angle bolted to back of tank & frame (4 more 5/16 bolts. I shaped the side of the angel to fit the tank, Probably not necessary. I just did it to get more iron around the bolt.

Re: 87-90 Jeep Wrangler gas tank

Did you complete this job? I am following along as I am in the process of relocating my tank. Any issues with the S10 sender? Also, what are the 4 adaptors for (fuel out and return and 2 vents?) Thanks.

Re: 87-90 Jeep Wrangler gas tank

I did this setup as I will go LS down the road and add a drop in fuel pump. It is working well for me to feed the carb now and the fuel gauge works. You can see the pictures of mine in the build thread "Cheyenne Rooftop Build". The only issue I have is a lack of back pressure so you can overrun the tank out the vent holes when filling (too many vents in tank and sender assembly). I have not got around to plugging some off.

Yes all works great. I have more post to add. Converting dash to autometer. Pcm mount. Milling a walnut bed floor.

Re: 87-90 Jeep Wrangler gas tank

In your thread, i see the supply side, filter etc. but is there a return? I see two AN fittings in the fuel tank. Is one of this the return? Where does this terminate on the engine? (Side question, what LS engine are you running?)

Re: 87-90 Jeep Wrangler gas tank

Anyone have more photos of the Wrangler tank installed ? I’ve made the brackets out of angle but the tank isn’t level. I must be missing something.

Thanks.

Bringing this old thread back up...

How did you run the filler hose? I'm ready to mount my tank, but unsure how to set up the filler neck.
