Could you get a 1968 C10 with power brakes? What does booster and bracket look like?

I am not sure if 1968 Chevy C10s had power brakes but if they did does anybody have some pics of what the booster and bracket looked like?

Was the booster 11inch or 9 inch?

Are aftermarket 9 inch boosters better than 11 inch boosters?

O’Reillys auto parts shows a power brake booster for it so I assume it was available. My understanding is that a larger booster equals more boosting. I think smaller is a compromise for engine compartments with limited space.

I had this truck and sold it. It had power brakes. It was a 68 CST half ton. As far as I know the power brakes were factory. That's all the info I have. Hope it helps.

I didn’t start the thread but have been thinking about the same for my 68 c10 Sub— is it as straight forward as putting the booster on and hooking it up or is there more I’m missing to upgrade? (I have a later c10 parts truck for disc swap someday but in the meantime)
Thanks

My '67 had PB from the factory (they were on the SPID), but I'm afraid I don't have pics.

Check this thread on 'survivor engines' and look at post #18.
It's a 68 anniversary truck with P Brakes.

Post 18 looks just like my 68. I'd get a picture of mine, It's buried in the garage...

Nothing real rare about 67 or 68's with power brakes, you just don't see as many of those, as the 69-72's with power brakes....

Here is a picture of my '68 C20, CST/Custom Camper and the SPID. I can get some closer pictures if you need them.

Yeah it looks like 1967-1968 Chevy C10 and C20 had different boosters.

There is a quite difference between post 10 and post 11. The boosters as are different as are the master cylinders. Is that because one is a C10 and the other a C20?

Re: Could you get a 1968 C10 with power brakes? What does booster and bracket look li

Hey Hauler - I recently swapped my 69 stock 11" booster and bracket for a 9" dual booster and bracket. When I installed a 4bbl intake and 390 Holley carb, there wasn't enough clearance between the carb and big booster. The stock booster and bracket are free (you pay shipping) if you decide to go that way.

3/4 ton had dual diaphragm boosters I believe. On disc brakes they had bigger caliper pistons but the replacements seem to be the same as 1/2 ton

Re: Could you get a 1968 C10 with power brakes? What does booster and bracket look li

From what I understand, there were two different set-ups. IIRC Bendix and Moraine. The boosters were different as were the MCs. I'm not sure about the brackets or application. I slightly rebent the brake lines on mine and they worked, it's a stretch tho. Something else to watch for is the MC piston depth. Some are shallow and others are over an inch deep. The deep one does not actuate with the smaller 9 in booster until you make a spacer. There's a post on it somewhere that came up in a search. I used a set-up from McGuagheys that was booster, MC and brackets. It's worked well for 12-14 years. I saw the same set from Inline tube at Charlotte Auto Fair and someone else also had it. Most of the BB vendors can hook you up.
