'71 GMC Suburban

I stopped by a friends house in central Oregon while I was on vacation last week and he asked me if I would find out what his Suburban might be worth. He has decided to sell it after 30+ yrs. of ownership. It is a 1/2 ton 4x4 3 door with a 350 sb and turbo 350. He is a retired mechanic so the truck has been well taken care of. It is all stock and everything is there. As you can see from the pics it is very straight and has very minimal rust being a desert truck. It runs and drives well even though he doesn't drive it much anymore. I don't know what it's worth since I spend my time with the 60-66 trucks.

Come on now. Help a guy out. Somebody should be able to give me some ideas on the value of this truck.

Its not worth much but I will give him 500. for it the way it sits and come get it..LOL
Sorry I know being a smart ass doesn't help.

Anyway it looks real nice and original have you tried Hemmings to get a ballpark figure on it? I don't know the value but I know something that nice in my area is hard to find or anything at that matter that is not all rusted out.

Re: '71 GMC Suburban

I would say it is in the 4-5K range at least. I dont know the market in Oregon so Im really guessing. Where I am, in that shape it would bring even more but...a buyer here for a 4x4 isnt as prevalent as one would be for a 2wd burb.

Sorry I don't have pix of the engine. As I said before, its a 350/350 combo.
Original engine and trans. I'm not sure if any major work has been done on the engine and trans but the guy was a mechanic for over 30yrs so it has been well maintained and runs very well. Everything is there. Nothing missing. In one of the photos shows a missing "custom" emblem. It's in the glove box.
Here's the only other picture that I have of the front interior.

Thanks to you guys for the input. When he puts it up for sale it will be listed on here before anywhere else.

Re: '71 GMC Suburban

I've been looking for one of these for a few years now. In my opinion being a 4 x 4 adds to its value but could limit the market. I find the originality of the Burb ( even though for starters it doesnt have the original seat) very appealing and because of that I'd say 4 to $5000.00. I'll be watching for it in the For Sale section.

Re: '71 GMC Suburban

I think higher....maybe 6000 because its 4wd (wrong hubcaps though.) Id rather have that one than my 68 gmc burb 2wd.
