I like the two tone green one. Mostly the color scheme and the blinkers.

I thought you had your bumper on the ol' girl already. Regardless she still looks good!

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

Looks good. How much were the latches, and does it rub with the door panel on?

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

about 1 hour for 1 door, but i figure next door will be done in 30-45 since I got the hang of it now. I ran out of steam after the first door. I have been busy working on this truck like a mad man finishing up a lot of small things. I have been home all week due to my wife giving birth to our second child last friday. so I am taking advantage of time off and being able to stay home.... now if I could just get a full nights sleep

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

Well I havent posted an update in a while. I made my longest trip so far, about 240 miles round trip. And my only complaint is that it is hot with out AC. So before I even got back home I bought a Vintage air setup off ebay for a nice price. I have mounted my evaporator, condensor and using the stock s10 compressor. I have got to get my hoses made up and then I should be cool. I also finished up my console. It is made of popular wood and has 1/2 foam and covered in vinyl. Its my first covering job. With the help of my mother who did the sewing I think it turned out pretty nice. I still have the speakers to put in the side.

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

Man I have really enjoyed reading through your build. I am planing on an S10 swap for mine as well. I think I noticed that you put in a new interior wind-lace(?) around your doors. I was thinking of not putting that back in when I do mine. Is it really necessary since you replaced all the other weather stripping?? I'm a newbie and advice from anyone is welcome.

Its a pain and it really doesnt seem to seal anything but it does cover the transition between the door and the cab.

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

britnjc,

loving the console. I couldnt tell in the picture, are those gauges on the top or A/C- heat vents. Did you glue or staple the foam to the poplar. I have heard horror stories about aerosol spray glue. I have a guy who will give me some industrial strenth glue but its has to be applied thru a spray gun, no big deal but hate to ruin even a cheap paint gun. thanks for the info. Im looking forward to building my console.

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

Thanks Rhodog, those are AC vents on the top and below them are my ac controls and the cup holders I actually found online are a marine supply store. I never thought I was going to fing cupholders. I figured a rod shop would carry them but nope or at least none I could find to wok on my console. My vinyl is all stapled with no glue. stapled front underneath at the seams to prevent it from getting out of line the pulled und wrapped underneath and stapled on the edges

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

Well I made it to two show the past couple of weeks. I got the peoples choice at our work sponsored show and this past weekend made another 250 mile round trip to my home town show. Didnt win but the range for the class was pretty much any truck made up until 1975 that wasnt stock. And a nice 48 studabacker won that one. On another note the ole 4.3 liter v6 is a blast to cruise on the interstate. My fuel pump went out a couple weeks ago but that is the extent of problems I have had since I put her together.

Re: 1950 gmc in alabama

liking your console even though I am not a fan of bucket seats, that looks like a nice console. I like your truck overall for sure. I am suppose to be looking at a 48' gmc this week. Gotta love them.
