Re: my 57 buid thread

Nice Build. We have decided to do the same suspension. Any suggestions? Did you box the frame completely? What is your desired end result?

This looks great. Your build is close to the road that we are traveling. Do you have any side pics of the truck and the stance? What size tires and rims? Any other suggestions on the suspension? You mention that you would change the rear shock position up 3 inches to lower it a bit more. Does this seem to put it more in line with the front suspension? Do you know how far forward from the back of the frame that you marked your axle centerline? Where did you get the dash extension? Sorry for all the questions, but it is cool to find someone that has already done it and done it well.

If you don't mind me asking what type of air filter you are using now? I'm looking for something like that.

Re: my 57 buid thread

We are coming along OK. We have been trying to weld in the front IFS cross member and have had issues getting a good weld. It looks real contaminated, like molten. In fact, the weld has a slag on top of it like you would get when stick welding. Have tried TIG and MIG. We ground the frame and cross member well before starting but it did not seem to help. Need to figure out the problem. Did you have any luck with getting a good weld on your IFS to the frame?

Do you have any pictures of the truck from the side to see the stance and how low it sits? Did you go with the stock spindles or the lower ones?

Re: my 57 buid thread

Blindman, we are about to install the rear shock mounts on the frame. We want a low truck that will handle, but one that can go over speed bumps and driveways with no issues. What is the frame height of your set up? How is the stock No Limit Suspension ride height? I am not sure I quite understand your statement about suggesting moving the shock mounts up 3? Is that 3" up (higher) on the frame? This would mean that you would have to build a mount extender, correct?

Re: my 57 buid thread

How did you know where to mount the transmission crossmember if you boxed the frame to the master brake cyl? Did you do an engine and tranny mock up before you welded it all shut? Did you weld nuts in the frame before you boxed it or are able to reach for the nuts to tighten them, or some other option? We are just about to weld it all shut but dont know where to mount (weld) the cross nuts. Thanks

Re: my 57 buid thread

I like the black, but on post #42 last photo....look in the lower right corner between the cowl and the door....I actually like the color effect from the flash....kind of a dark purple...hmmmm. That would look good on one of the TF trucks IMO.

Nice paint and nice straight panels! That represents a LOT of work. Check out the reflections on the door....
