Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......

It is used and looks great. Right now she has 50 2x4's in it waiting for the shed build.

Previous pictures have shown everything from Cabinet Maker done beds to rotted out waiting for new wood and hardware, mine is in the middle, I use it as a truck.

Year and a 1/2 in the S. TX sun/rain. Not as beautiful as wood, but the nice thing about this one is that a quick pass with a pressure washer and it's good to go.

Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......

Might be fun to bring this thread back to the top. Have enjoyed seeing everyone's bed! Awesome work! I've posted mine here and there - my red oak bed, quarter sawn.

Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......

After looking at the price of bed kits, I purchased some red oak boards and milled them to specs (Thanks Mar-K). After a good finish sanding used high quality automotive clear as a finish.

Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......

Found mine in a wrecking yard 20 yrs. ago. Was a long bed, but cut down to fit my short bed. Stood on its side with all cross sills attached for years. Up close has a few aging issues. But just gives it character. Like the character behind the wheel.

Re: Lets see pics of wood beds.......

Red Oak wiped down with a mixture of dissolved steel wool and vinegar. The solution reacts with the tannin in the wood and gives it an irregular weathered look. Finished with 3 coats of Helmans Spar urathane.
