Some one clue me in on what we are looking at? I thought U bolts were how the lower control arm was held on.

I looks to me as if in the lower photo the shaft is not properly indexed on the rivet in the center of the saddle. Compare the distance from the u-bolt to the control arm in the upper photo to the lower u-bolt and controll arm in the lower photo. They look to be different. My Burban had sheared off rivets which prevented proper indexing of the shaft. See pictures in post 244 of my thread below. His saddle may have a damaged index rivet. At least that's how it looks from my couch.

OK got the tie rods fixed. BUT now the pitman arm off the steering box seems to be wrong it is causing the center tie rod to hit the frame. I just got a new pitman arm from AutoZone for my truck but it’s the same.
