Re: 72 GMC Short Step Build

New Classic Instruments

Received my new Classic Instruments instrument panel this week. I think I'm going to like it. Here's a couple of pics one in the box and one test fit in the dash.

Double E dropped by this afternoon and showed me the new wiring harness he's been working on. I'm not sure how much time he has in it, but I know he was working on it at 2:00am last night. He's adding circuits and a secondary fuse box that will power the ECM among other things. He even washed the old fuse panel and the thing looks absolutely new. Now he needs to wrap it and terminate the ends after we get the engine installed.

I also got the dynamat and aluminized closed cell foam insulation installed on the firewall this afternoon. Hopefully the Mass Loaded Vinyl will be delivered later this week so that I can finish.

Pics of the instrument panel.

Stainless Frame Fuel Lines

Car Boss has pretty much completed the fuel system. Here are some pics of his handy work. Fuel lines, Internal Fuel pump, etc.

Time For Testing The Surge Tank.
No Drips, No Runs, No Errors! Car Boss designed, fabricated, and completed and it works as designed.

Oh, this is too funny lotus man!! This is the same guy that put 18 different types of gauges in the dash of his 50 Chevy pickup, and called it a race truck. This is the guy, that took a perfectly good 55 chevy and turned it into a race car. This is the guy that took a perfectly good 68 camaro and didn't call his friend to see if he wanted to purchase, even though this friend "Z10" found it for him in the first place, and he sold it to a stranger. This is the same guy that bought a harley sportster and tried to convince his buddy's that it was a man's bike. The same guy that bought a 71 ford mustang that you could land aircraft on the hood and was under the impression that it was cool. And this is the same guy that now rides Euro trash motorcycles and dresses in leather race suits, and now he goes out and buys a Lotus and thinks he can take my C6 Z06.

PS: Spell check is your friend

Ahh......shoot Earl, I thought we could keep this going and drive some interest in to this build thread.

I still think it was closer to 18 gauges? And I forgot about the tie wraps.

Thanks Mash. From the minds of Car Boss and Double E, things are getting fun.

Custom Electrical Harnes
Double E did a test fit of the new custom electrical harness that he has been spending untold hours designing and fabricating. Simply outstanding work.

Re: 72 GMC Short Step Build

Cab Insulation and Noise Control

Well I spent Saturday and Sunday afternoon, finishing up the cab insulation project. First I put down a Dynamat type product, then came the aluminum backed closed cell insulation, then the MLV...Mass Load Vinyl. The MLV is heavy and doesn't like to bend where you need it. The carpet will go in hopefully next weekend.

Ran out of Dynamat so the doors will have to wait. Looks pretty clean, I think.

Mash, I'll let Diceman chime in. He had it left over from another project. It's really nice stuff. Very easy to work with. The MLV......not so much.
