Sean sealer/ door skin

Do you/would you seal this area with seam sealer? I know the corners get some ,but not sure about the rest of the bottom and sides.

Re: Sean sealer/ door skin

I am going to seal all the seams on mine.

I was employed at an auto manufacturing for 18 years.
For 3 years I worked in the paint department.
Part of my jobs was put sealer in the Sheetmetal seams.

I have worked on vehicles most all my life.

I didn't realize a vehicle had so many seams.
Look at some of the newer cars made,
Some of them all the seams are sealed,
Then other are randomly seal in different areas.

The drain holes need to stay open.

Everything else is sealed on (most) new vehicles.

They also sprayed cavity wax inside the doors.

my plan was to seam seal then tape the bottom drains shut and pour epoxy primer in the inside of the door and turn it by hand until it runs down all 3 sides. The bottom corners seem to be the place most doors rust out because it's kinda sealed off. But I think the epoxy will get in there.

Good idea.

That cavity wax is nasty.
It has to be done at the very last process.

A rubber squeegee was used to smooth the sealer in the seams in most places.
The long runs where the sealer laid down thin it was left alone. As long as it was on the seam. It did go thru an oven to cure it.
