Post Electrical Question

Last week my under dash and headlight harnesses burnt. I replaced with used ones yesterday. Now I have no headlights, dash lights, or dome light. I replaced the switch and still nothing. I have power in and out of the dimmer switch. Any ideas? Thanks.

You should have one red hot wire going directly to the headlight switch that is hot straight from the battery. If you don't have that, you won't have nothing. Good luck, Jeff.

Do you have power at the red wire on the switch? Tailights? I assume you do if you have power through the dimmer. If you have power at the green or the tan wire (hi and low beam) at the dimmer then you should have power at the headlights, unless the wires are burnt, because they go straight to the headlights. As for the dome and others, have you got power at the fuse? Hope this helps.

I have power at the switch and the dimmer switch, but not at the headlights. I have taillights and side marker lights. Maybe it didn't make a good conection at the fire wall. I'll check that tomarrow. The dash harness is a 69 and the headlight harness is a 72. That shouldn't make a difference should it?

I wouldn't think so, but not positive. Did you hook up the headlight ground wires at each side of the rad. support when you changed the headlight harness?

Make sure all of your grounds are good, and you said the dimmer switch is ok? If you're not sure on that, try running a jumper wire across it, just to check.....
