Post The motor is finally in! (pics)

Well, it's been a loooonnnggg 9 months, but now I have completed the engine and got it dropped in last night, (thanks Will). I picked up the engine from Kim Barr Racing in Garland Thursday night. Spent the weekend painting, cleaning and putting it together. A special thanks to Brandon-79Big10 and Will-Smokey55 for the help. I have never had buddies like them, willing to take time out of their day to help without me even asking!

The engine: 69 Chevelle 396, started life as a 375 horse, now: bored .060, 10:1 comp., Engle Cam 238/244 dur. .541/.559 lift, 110 lob sep. Weiand Stealth intake, Carter 750 electric choke. You gotta love the Chevy Orange that just screams LOOK AT ME!!

I should be ready to fire it off Wed. night! I am keeping my fingers crossed! The tranny "should" be back tomorrow and ready to stab. I can't wait till the 500 mile mark. If all goes well, Keller's here I come, Friday night.

Hope you enjoy the pics!

Very awesome. If you want, I will trade my greasy 307 straight up, heck I will even throw in a $100.00!

Let us know when you get to take it out - if it performs like it looks you are going to me smiling big time.

67_ss396...your motor looks gooood. When do the crowds start picking up again @ Kellers? Have you ever checked out your neighbors @ Sachse rod shop? Keep at it & get it on the street. What are some other specs on your ride?

Sachse is just outside of Garland. It's bordered by Richardson/Plano to the N.west & Wylie to the east right around Hwy 78/190 G.Bush. Small city but growing. Hint on't speed down 78 just past Murphy Rd.'cause they make alot of revenue there.

That engine looks awesome! Good luck with that chrome timing cover, everyone I have ever had leaked like hell.

Thanks for all the compliments all and Wes for posting.

Yukon: That sure sounds tempting.....ah, I guess I'll have to pass. I really don't want to drive that far for a trade. But, if you have some extra grease to throw in...

Scotti: The crowds are slowly starting to grow out at Keller's. We went a couple weeks ago on a Friday night and plan on going this Friday night to meet up with a few other truckers. They guys over at Sachse Rod shop seem to be pretty good. I haven't done business with them, but they seem to be top notch.

I roughed up the edges on the valve covers, timing cover and oil pan to help fight leaks. They didn't leak before, but there's always a first time for everything.

Where is Keller's? I know I've seen it before, but I can't remember where and I didn't know anything happened there. I live in Lewisville.

It's on Northwest Hwy and Abrams in Dallas. They have really good burgers and beer. A true old fashioned burder drive-in. Fridays aren't all that busy but Sat. they close the back parking lot and you have to pay to park back there and to see all the cars. There tends to be a pretty big turnout if the weather is nice. The cops don't bother you as long as you're not doing anything stupid. You may see the occasional burnout etc... Some really nice cars show up, some not quite so street legal.
