Post oil pressure gauge

My Oil Pressure gauge was tweakin' on me this morning on the way to work. The needle would go all the way down then back up to normal. I haven't had a chance to check the oil becuase I was late for work already, but I'm sure it's down a quart. My truck burns oil sometimes I can smell it, like after a freeway trip. any suggestions

First, fill the oil up!
If your gage is correct, Running with low oil pressure will KILL your engine.

Does this solve the problem?

Oil pressure going up and down is a good sign that you need to add oil. Does your truck smoke? You may just need new valve stem seals.

Sounds like she's low by more than a quart to me.

If it's only a quart low, it shouldn't be fluctuating like that. Hate to say it, but it might be the sump fell off the oil pump. It happened to mine. When it was down about 3/4 of the way from full, it would lose pressure, then it would come back. Check out all the other possibilities first, the only way to check the sump is to pull the pan.

Uhh my bad, yah it wasn't even registering on the dip stick. I guess I'm the dip stick here. I had my wife drop me off some oil at work so I didn't have to drive it anywhere to get oil. Man oh man where does all my oil go? I guess it just burns it and leaks it.
