L31 Vortec Ports
It's been a while since I tore this engine down, and I can't remember what went here. These look like they're perhaps ports in the oil galley, but I'm not sure. If so, what size plug do they take? I tried 1/4 NPT and it's too large, but they're much larger than 1/8th.
Thanks.

Re: L31 Vortec Ports
Those are clutch Z-Bar Pivot mounting holes, No need to plug them. You have the one oil pressure port plugged above the oil filter.

Re: L31 Vortec Ports
The threads should be 1/2"-13 bolt threads for the ballstud for the clutch bellcrank. Which hole to use depends on the chassis being installed into.

Re: L31 Vortec Ports
Makes sense - the block came out of a manual transmission truck. I have a TH350, so I'll just leave them alone.

On another note it looks as if you have your cooling system grounded? Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: L31 Vortec Ports
It's a block heater. I'm getting old and I hate being cold...
