Sorry guys, no updates yet. Still driving Tanya around. I just wanted to make a quick post to keep my thread from falling too far down the list.

Re: !965 Chevy C-10 Take 2: Project Tanya

Hey guys, I'm still here and still kicking. Tanya has decided she wanted to start throwing u-joints so she is parked for now until I can get those replaced. Fortunately she didn't drop a driveline, but she has one hell of a shudder heading down the highway. It's been really cold and snowy up here lately, but we are supposed to get a break in the storms this weekend. So I'm hoping to get her fixed up and back on the road in a few short days. Meanwhile her oil leak has gotten a bit worse, and she is starting to run a bit rough. Still trying to locate a HEI distributor for her, and as soon as the weather stays warm enough I'll pull the engine and get her all sealed and tuned up. That's about it for now, sorry there aren't any pictures. All the cameras were left at the house, and my phone has been jacked up since I split. New phone's coming, so hopefully next time I'll have a few shots to share. Until then......

Thanks Captain. Yeah they are actually going fairly well all things considered, just don't have a whole lot of spare time and almost no money for the projects at the moment. It's ok though, I know things will get even better....I just have to hold out a little bit more.

Thanks bud, yes I am still around....it would be pretty impressive if I could get lost in this part of the country. As much as I'm sure she would like me to be, I've just lived here too damned long.

Re: !965 Chevy C-10 Take 2: Project Tanya

Hey y'all. I'm still here and still alive..... Not a whole lot of progress just yet, poor Tanya is still sitting with busted u-joints. Going through the divorce process has taken a lot out of me monitarily, mentally, and physically. Plus I am living right now in a place where i don't have internet access, so time to get on here is scarce. I do have a good friend who has been faithfully working on his '64 Chevy, and in turn helping get me motivated to get back on Tanya. I did get the ex's Caddy pushed out of my shop, and Tanya is finally inside. Once my new cell phone arrives (yeah, been without a camera too), I'll try to get some fresh photos and post them up here. I am getting my health back, and really looking forward to getting back into the shop to help me focus on something besides the turmoil my life has been in lately.....I do get out there once a week to start her up and run her around the storage complex just to keep her from getting too lonely. Now I just need to get focused and get to work. Hope y'all are still hanging around.

Re: !965 Chevy C-10 Take 2: Project Tanya

Yeah I know, at this point all I can really blame is lazness. My girl is even into working on cars and trucks and is starting to push me into getting to the shop. I'm finally able to make it through a day without breaking into a huge coughing fit, so maybe it is about time to get my butt back into the shop. I have so much work to do between Evil Ways and Tanya, there is no excuse for me wasting any more time......

Re: !965 Chevy C-10 Take 2: Project Tanya

Ok, got some parts coming in for Tanya, and as soon as I can get a couple small things cleared from my shop (the other '65 removed, a new project rolled in, and the exhaust on my F-250) I'll be back to work on her. I got one of those distributors ordered up from Skip White (link above), man $80 is hard to beat for a brand new HEI distributor. Going to pull the 292 out and get her freshened up with some new seals and gaskets, a fresh tune up with the new dizzy, and maybe even some new paint. While the engine is out I am contemplating a 700r4 swap to make her a little more highway friendly. And I'll see what kind of shape the exhaust manifold is in, she may just get some headers and new exhaust too! I'm so stoked, so many things going on and soon I'll be back working on Tanya again. Not to mention I finally have a good phone with a working camera so I can take some pictures to share once again.....

Here is the website picture of the distributor I got coming: (yes I know the picture shows a V8 cap...lol)

Re: !965 Chevy C-10 Take 2: Project Tanya

Thanks bud! I finally got to get my hands dirty on her today (and she is a VERY dirty girl!!!).....yes, the truck! I got her up on some ramps and got the driveline pulled out, and got the old U-joints and carrier barring off and replaced. I also got all of the random stuff that piled in the cab and bed over the last few months all cleaned out. I am trying to get her all ready for the Bettys, Bombs, and Bikes car show over in Carson City this weekend, so hopefully tomorrow I will get her back on the road, and get some time to polish her up a little bit before the weekend. The one thing I forgot to do was take any pictures, so I will try and remember to take some new ones tomorrow for anyone still interested.

Thanks man. You know, I have no idea what the wheels are off of or what they even are. They were on the truck when I got it. I'm not really a big fan of them, but if I had the center caps that would probably make a big difference.

Of course I will. My girlfriend is huge into taking pictures so she helps remind me to take more. I'll post up some good show pictures here in my personal thread since there aren't likely to be many of our generation trucks there. I am trying to get Redneck6 to bring his '64 out though, he just got paint on his...we will see.

Re: !965 Chevy C-10 Take 2: Project Tanya

Oh, and speaking of pics, here are a couple of Tanya while I was working on her today. There wasn't anything special about the u-joint swap, so I never took any pictures of that....well, me and my good friend beating on the u-joints, and using random things to remove and reintall the center support bearing would have been good pictures....if there was someone else there.

The drive shaft is all installed now, and she is finally back on the road. She rides smooth as glass once again, man it feels so good to be behind her wheel again. I've got a lot of cleaning and prep work to do before the show on Saturday, so I'll try and get some more pictures as I get her cleaned up.

Oh, I got my new toy in the shop today.....rescued her from the crusher, litterally! The only reason she didn't get crushed is the crusher broke down when she was next in line. I found out about her while they were waiting for the parts to fix the crusher, and she was sitting 2 feet in front of it. I have a few pics from the salvage yard when we were loading her up, and i'll try to get them posted up here soon in an "Alternative Tinkerings" thread. The guy in one of the pictures is a very good friend of mine, and rents the shop right next to mine (also is a co-founder of my car club). He is the one who found out about the 'bird and let me know about her. He is building a '67 Cougar, and both cars will be built to resemble 60s style straight axle drag cars. We are hoping to have them on the road by next summer....Nothing on this body is permanent, the axle is a dana 60 we found just for the sake of moving the car and is held in place with rachet straps.

You Have Got To Be Kidding Me!.....They were going to crush a early Firebird? Congrats on saving it from an undeserving death. It doesn't look like it is in bad shape. Is it a '67?

Actually the body looks to be in better shape than my '68 Camaro
