Re: "Old Brownie" build

Thanks for the kind words, guys!
I used some Plastikote rust converter on, well, some rusty spots. I'm amazed at how well those spots look after the "treatment" I've been going along the bed where the 147 holes are--yes I counted them. He made and mounted 2 different tonneau covers on it. Getting the rust stopped, going to finish prepping this week and next, then shoot a coat of low gloss equipment enamel on it so I can get some pics taken for insurance.
It's 5 different colors, including the rust, so I'd be lucky to get it insured for $10.

Hmm, your air cleaner intake has been cut, like mine. This is the only other one I have seen like this. Anyone have an idea why this was done?

Re: "Old Brownie" build

Did a little body work today. Trying to get her smoothed out and some paint on her (Satin Black) so she's not quite so ugly.
Yep, loooong way to go!

Re: "Old Brownie" build

WOOHOO
I got the carb rebuilt and got to drive it for about 10 min this evening!! Man, I was sooo stoked! I have put maybe 10 miles on it in the last 10 years, and that was mostly moving it from one storage spot to another.
Couldn't stay out long, I found out my lights don't work.
But I'll be cruisin it around tomorrow for sure!!

Thanks to all you guys and gals for posting your trucks in various stages of repair, and upgrades. It's been great to follow along with you. You've been the inspiration for getting me to get on it.

Re: "Old Brownie" build

Well, My buddy Scooter decided he'd had enough of hearing my cry about having a nasty colored truck, so we gave it a quick paint job.
Literally.
From the time we got to my house until the time he left was 2 1/2 hrs, including masking and a quick run for Gatorade!
It's by no means perfect, but it looks A LOT better! Would have been a little smoother if the wind hadn't picked up!

By the way, we painted this in the "side yard"! The fence it my yard. We painted her in the gravel parking lot of the city pool.
In the first pic, the one with all the prep and paint stuff, you can see part of the middle school.
At the right edge of the second picture, you can just see the south edge of the pool building.

Re: "Old Brownie" build

She ran pretty hot to, during, and on the way home from the parade.
I had some questions about temp and stuff, and it was pretty well covered here: http://http://67-72chevytrucks.com/v...d.php?t=584260

Well, I decided to drive her to church today, being father's day and all.
Well, when it's NOT 100 degrees outside, she runs much cooler!
This was about 9 am, I think outside temp was low 70's.
I did notice on the drive home, she was runnin about 190, about 90 outside.
Pic was on the way over.

Re: "Old Brownie" build

I can't wait to take mine to church. We have a very laid back congregation. Everyone wears shorts and Tees in the summer. I think they will dig the disruption. Heck.....they might even hear it and think he's coming back. lol

Love it.

When I had my Chevelle, I was running a little late for Easter Sunrise service, so I had the pedal down. My Dad told me later they could hear me 5 or 6 miles off in the cool morning air!
He said it sounded pretty sweet!

Re: "Old Brownie" build

Thanks Rusty! The frustrating part is having time but no money, or a little bit of money, then no time.

Any updates on your truck? Just read your build. Nice job, certainly looks better than mine!lol! That's about norm at 100 degrees for those motors, mine idled at alittle hotter then that at 95 degrees, that was of course after driving it then doing some yard work with it. Is that a 230???
