They worked as advertised

A big shout out to "Full Custom Fab" in Texas for my seat lowering brackets. In all my years of playing with these 67-72 trucks I never knew there were 2 different heights on the seat rails, 5" or 7".

You have to measure what yours are and order accordingly, mine were 7. They bolted right in with no problems, they are a little tight to get to the rear bolts but doable none the less. A perfect fit!

I ran a tap thru the holes (5/16"-18) and took a electric solder gun to make clearance at the carpet around the holes to make sure I was not fighting those two battles and it went smooth as can be expected. A ratcheting box end is almost a must for the rear bolts.

I now sit 2" lower as promised. Well worth the $100

Re: They worked as advertised

2 different height brackets is news to me. I guess maybe the difference in brackets is the depth of the seat foam maybe? Standard and deluxe seating?

Do these brackets tip the seat back more, or just lower it?

Re: They worked as advertised

2 Different seat heights?....from the factory?.....5" or 7"?
Wow, that's news to me. I'll have to check to see what I have.
Boogs point about it perhaps being tied to the full foam seat option might have something to do with that.
That is almost its own thread....what seat height do you have?

All good

Re: They worked as advertised

The factory seat brackets on my "new" 69 C10 Stepside are 7". I ordered the lowered brackets before Christmas and they should be delivered by Wed.

Re: They worked as advertised

Or are these just an aftermarket way of lowering the stock seat for a head clearance or leg clearance issue? I like the idea anyway.
That 2" could give a big ol boy leg to steering wheel clearance with a non tilt column and stock size wheel.

Lower it only...you lose your factory adjustment rail and are limited to about 1-1/2" of slotted adjustment in the new brackets.

I'm very happy with mine, I was looking out thru the tinted top of the windshield

Bingo! There was only one height of brackets. Full foam seat put you higher.

I am certainly no expert but their website clearly states factory tall and short brackets.

Re: They worked as advertised

He sells these same brackets for the 60-66 trucks as well. Could it be possible that those trucks have two different height seat brackets?

I guess I’m going to order the “short” brackets for my ‘70 since I need more head/gut room.

I would measure what you have, if you have 7" tall and order the short 3" brackets you will not be able to get your hand in there to install the bolts, in fact your seat bottom will be on the floor.

It all has to do with where the bracket mounts on the seat frame, evidently for whatever reason there were 2 different locations of attachment.

Re: They worked as advertised

Just bought these and installed in my truck big difference with factory steering wheel. Make sure to measure the rear of the original sea bracket!! My truck had the "tall" bracket but removing seat and tearing down about a 45 minute to 1 hour job. Personally I think its worth the money

Re: They worked as advertised

Well the website shows pics of both 5 and 7" factory brackets. I was not aware of it. Did anybody notice their return policy? No Returns hmm.

Re: They worked as advertised

When I needed to lower my seat I just cut the factory bracket down, re-welded it, and installed. I got the seat lowered as much as possible and kept the full factory forward/back adjustment. Cheaper, too.
