Thinking about blacking out the grille on my '68

I am doing some winter maintenance on my 68 C10. It is light blue with the white grill. It's all chipped up, and in pretty rough shape. The more I sand on it, the more I keep thinking, a nice satin black grill with polished inserts might look good. Like tough.
Yes, I know that they didn't come that way. I don't care about that. Any thoughts, or better yet pictures of 67's or 68's with blacked out grills? Probably won't squirt paint for a few weeks. I got some time to think about it.

I don't have any pictures but I think once you install all the trim pieces on, it would look like a new reproduction part needing paint.
Any pictures of the whole truck?

Very true what 3drburb said. At first I thought eh, might look good, but I too think it will look like a replacement grill. White or silver or body color for me

I don't think light blue is the color to try that with. Too stark of a contrast, baby blue/black... I dunno. Baby blue is not exactly a color that says badass either. I'd say paint it to match the rest of the body and let the grille openings stand out. Is it black already inside the hoops? That would give a more aggressive look with all blue.

Here is my old neighbor's truck I helped on. It's a bit deeper blue, but he went with a Super Sport type of theme (ended up with Vette Rallyes)

Personally, I like the look of that truck in SpecialK's post and I like the blacked out look on the grills in general. I recently blacked out the grill on my 71 and don't regret it... Not a 67-68 but I think it looks good on those too.
