Re: Flag Day

DOH! I have some flags that need to be properly disposed of, and was trying to think of what today was, all day, but couldn't think of it. Our old BSA troop used to team up with the local ELKS lodge and some Marines and properly dispose of a bunch of old, dilapidated, shredded flags. Now I'm officially annoyed that I missed this. I guess I'll go by the local VFA chapter with those old flags.

Our post office has a flag disposal barrel just inside the door. I have taken several down there over the years, properly folded and carefully laid inside the barrel.

Re: Flag Day

June 14 is also the Army's birthday - it's exactly two years older than the flag.

Now doesn't that give a better perspective on what this flag is all about? First came the fight, then came the flag. It could have not turned out this way.

I think so. And I was really glad when the Army finally adopted the flag as part of the uniform years ago. It always gave me a sense of pride to have that on my shoulder.
