Big back window or small? what looks best?

Got a chance to buy two real good cabs, the big window is an a/c cab and very very rust free, it's got stuff screwed under the dash like brake controll and CB radio brackets and has been cut out for a cd player, other than that it's krazy clean.
the small window is untouched, not a screw hole to be found any where. the rockers are perfect inside and out,the right cab corner has a buble the size of a dime. thats it

Here's the problem, with all the stuff I have in my garage MAMA said only one comes home! what style cab do you like best, Big or Small back window?

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

I went back and forth on this. It really comes down to personal preference. I think since the small windows were only made one year, they're a little more rare. I liked the big window in the 60's because there is the outline for the big glass on the small window cabs with that body style (that make sense?). But in '67, the small window is clean, not like it was a downgrade look from the big window.

To answer you question, it's up to you. Both look very clean. What is the VIN situation on these? Are you worried about matching numbers? And you can always gets an A/C dash...

I know this didn't help.

I like the small back glass. It's more rare and A/C is a nice option for that year.

If you can only save one,,,, go for the small glass (not many out there)

If ya can't buy both let someone else on here close to you have a chance to buy the other one!

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

I've had both and overall I would go with the bigger back window. The smaller back window is definetly more unique, but the blind spots are bad especially in heavy traffic and tight places. Ultimately its up to you though.

Go for the big window - more practical, less hassle to drive (more vision).

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

If you are going for a modern pro touring look, then the big window looks better.
If you are going for more of a classic/hot rod/street rod, then the small window would look better IMO.

From the drivers seat, the big window wins hands down.

And, as implied earlier... 67 is the only year that should have a small window.

Unless i'm building a '67 I'm gonna stick to the big back glass.

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

I still have to say Big Back Window is better looking, even though the small back window was only in 67, like it was mentioned, too many blind spots, which is why I prefer the big back window (and what is super rare in my opinion a true 67 with Large Back window option).

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

I had the same dicussion with myself the other day. A buddy has a couple cabs that we are going to chop along with my 72 to make asn extended cab. Both of the cabs he has have small back windows one big hump and one small hump.

Decided I'm going to use the small window for my 72 extended cab and make it a little unique.

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

Small.I like the fact that they are unique. But I also like the 67-68 grille better.I just think it looks cleaner and sleeker. In reality though, you are building the truck for you so you should build what you want.If I were building a Pickup I would do a small window 68 frontend, stepside.I might even go for dual matched fender mount spares since you don't see many done that way these days.

Big. If you don't use the cab, the big one will be easier to sell.

IMO, For some reason the little window seems like it is out of place on these trucks. They are such a modern looking style and the little window looks like it was left over from the previous model.

Small window will probably run cooler in the summer, but will have blind spots. One thing I don't like about the big window is the sun baking the back of my head in the summer .

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

My take on it is that I think the small back window looks perfect on the stepsides because it neatly matches the smaller bed. I think the small windows look a little awkward on the fleetsides. The big back window looks great on fleetsides.

I do a lot of driving with my 67, I just did a 220 mile round trip to charlotte and back and the small back window is a total bear when there's 5 lanes of traffic and you're unsure of where you're going.

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

Guess you should have made this a POLL. Sounds like it's about 50/50 and for various reasons.

One reason not mentioned yet is driver awareness. I've owned both and the big window is a LOT easier to see out of as people pass you on the right side, and as you look through it when backing up.

Second, I think you said the big-window is an A/C cab. That'll come in handy in the not to distant future (wish my cab had factory A/C).

Finally, if the small-window cab is in that good a shape, buy it and flip it for a few bucks, then take Momma out for a nice meal on the town with the profit.

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

Small window cabs looks sweet in my opinion, but I bet they would suck to drive in heavy traffic with lots of lane changing. Tough call

Re: Big back window or small? what looks best?

I like the big window personally, although beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also, the a/c cab is a good asset to have. I know you could alway add a/c to the other cab. I'd say weigh your options, can you weld, do the body work yourself, or is this something your going to have to pay to have done? If your like me, your on a budjet and that at this point that is the deciding factor. Good luck on your decision!
