Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

Is a crew cab rear bench the same as the front - difference being one is on a sliding track the other is fixed mount? Do the mounts and tracks interchange between seat bases?

Sorry I must have missed this. I get my dye and prep materials from USA1 Industries, and yes they have all the correct OEM colors that match.

Yes, they are the same seat. All the 73-87 seats will bolt right into the cab floor.
Actually GMC Seats are slightly different. They have that little extra chrome piece, were the seat hinge is. Here are two pics of 73-80 seats.
1st pic is a Chevy
2nd pic is a GMC

The shipping's a killer for me, Tina. But I do appreciate the quality of your work. Going to try to recover it myself, and depending how that turns out, you might still be hearing from me.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered

I know it's not really related to your work but I'm wondering if you can provide some input? I was going to order a seat cover and sun visors from USA1 to match the tan seatbelts I got from SeatBeltStore.com but they want $238 dollars for shipping. What's my next best bet? Do you recommend the 38-2293-TN from LMC? Or should I look at a different supplier? It's for a mid-80's tilt seat.

USA1 is going to be your best bet. They are handmade here in the US. The colors match and the quality is A+.
A long time ago, I started off using covers made by ACME. These are supplied to LMC, Classic Industries and a few other online vendors. I didn’t take very long to realize these covers are not well made, and they would either be too big, which would leave lots of wrinkles. Or too small, then they would rip.

Is shipping actually that expensive to CA or are they surcharging you? If that's the case, see if you can just provide them a shipping label for the stuff.

There was someone else that I know, is running into that same issue. He lives in Canada and the shipping was crazy.

That's crazy. No real good reason for it other than "they can." I guess if you're somewhat close to the border and know someone in the US, maybe have it shipped to them....

Well that is an option. I did offer my friend that. That he could have the stuff shipped to me, and then I would ship them to Canada. I’ve already sent him a couple of packages.

I've looked into those options before but since I'm 350 miles north of the border it doesn't work when you factor in fuel to pick it up.

Thanks for the input from both of you. I'm still considering rolling the dice with LMC but I'll give it some more thought.

Sure, you can be my friend. I’ll do that for you. It will probably save you at least $100. When I get things from USA1, the shipping average is about $25-$30. Then whatever it would be for me to ship to you. $50 at the most maybe.

They didn't start out that clean. It took some soaking, scrubbing and cleaning. That is a service that I'm offering now, seatbelt restoration. Take them out and send them to me, I'll get them looking good again.

Re: Bench Seats, Having them Reupholstered
