What does a frame weigh?

Anyone happen to know how much a 67-72 rolling long wheel base frame weighs?

Re: What does a frame weigh?

Just strictly going from the late models I'm use to dealing with although they are much heavier built I would say 600 to 725# in that neighborhood. The reason before anyone jumps me saying they don't built them like they used to why are you saying the newer ones are heavier? Well, they are boxed, in some cases boxed well past the trans crossmember, some behind the front spring pads.

Re: What does a frame weigh?

Thanks. I'm needing to get a ball park estimate. I just bought a nice bed that is still attached to the frame. We agreed on a price on the bed and when I asked about the frame the guy said whatever it will bring for scrap.

Re: What does a frame weigh?

The frame won't be very heavy when considering the prices of scrap iron

If it was a roller, why lift it at all? Just roll the F'n thing onto the trailer. But THIS one you need to lift. And two old fat guys did it.

Re: What does a frame weigh?

I have no scientific numbers but I can see a 67-72 frame with only axles, springs, wheels, and steering gear (no drivetrain) weighing 850-1,100 lbs. If the seller wants to be sure he's not getting taken, figure on 1,200 lbs. - scrap is so low right now it's very little difference.

Re: What does a frame weigh?

I guess we never got an answer, so I'll offer my scientific answer. According to my research it weighs more than two fat guys can lift, but they can push it...if they aren't fat AND dumb. Sorry for the late answer

Re: What does a frame weigh?

bare frame isnt heavy at all i moved mine around my self.i would say 200-300#

now since its rolling the weight of the complete front c member, rear axle and suspention with wheels its gotta be close too 1000-1300#....here they "can" deduct the cost of getting rid of the tires since they are not metal.
good luck getting a good deal
