transmission shift problem

87 Silverado 350 4 speed auto. After replacing the trans filter and fluid it takes longer to shift and shifts hard most noticeable from 1st to 2nd. The only thing I did was change fluid and filter, or is there something I may have done or not done that caused this change in the shifting?

How was the fluid you drained originally? Was it dark with metal flakes? A lot of times transmission fluid that has not been changed in a while or is in poor condition is actually whats making your transmission still shift good. You most likely have a 700r4 which is not a good transmission in stock form. I would check to make sure the fluid is at the proper level.

If the old fluid had any metal in it, it was minor and not obvious to me. The fluid level is correct. Shifted fine prior to the fluid and filter change. No problems with the transmission just PM
